A handful of athletes from Colchester harriers attended a very wet Southend open on Bank Holiday Monday with some very good results and plenty of medals to show for their efforts too Well done to Aliyah Soames (U13) who came away with a gold medal in the javelin, and also ran a 100m PB of 15.13. Isabella Minder (U13) who performed very well and although no medals she achieved a very good PB in the 100m. Hannah Rodgers (U13) won the 1500 to come away with a gold medal. Norwich 10k Mussett sets new record Colchester Harriers Adrian Mussett has been in fine form this year , 3,500 runners lined up for the inaugural Norwich 10km and Mussett showed he has lost none of his speed finishing 3rd overall in a great time of 32-11 and was the first veteran runner, Sarah Stradling was also showing top quality coming home 37th overall and 2nd lady in 36.34. Colchester Harriers had 3 representatives at the national under 15/17 England Athletics championships, held at the Bedford international stadium. Up first was under 15 boy Mufaro Sharvin in the 100m, where he clocked a time of 11.69 and just missed out on a place in the next round. Philippa Davenall was unlucky to miss out on the medals in the under 17 women's hammer competition, throwing 55.39m to finish 4th in a competition that produced national records and championship bests. Musset sets great times Colchester Harriers Adrian Mussett  is running at the top of his form, setting the mark by winning the Salisbury park Run in 15-23 then the tough Barnstaple park run in 15-48, Sarah Stradling won the ladies in 18-19 both times were course age records,  Anita Mussett clocked 23-43, Sarah Ivory won the same race the week previous in 19-34, with her soon to be husband Chris Sellens 3rd in 17-00. Southern Athletics League: Basingstoke

Saturday saw the final Southern Athletics League Division 1 match of the season.  It was always going to be a tough match competing against clubs fighting to save relegation.  Colchester Harriers did themselves proud and consolidated their top 6 position in the league. There were lots of personal bests (PBs) over the course of the day.  Beth Francis competing in her first scoring events for the club, achieved 3 PBs in 400m, 1500 and 2000m S/C.  Ella Neale, also ran a PB of 8min 18.44 over the 2000m S/C, won the B string discus (another PB) and 800 and clocked 63.47 in the 400m. ... read more

Dolggelau 5 mile, Mid Wales Double victory for the Small’s Colchester Harriers have a long tradition of success at the very hilly Dolggelau 5 in the heart of mid Wales. Yet Again Harriers did well with Alan Smalls and Fay Smalls making it a husband and wife family celebration with Fay winning the over 40 category in 50-37, and Allen  setting a new over 45 course record of 28.26 to finish 5th overall and only 45 seconds off overall victory.
