A thanks from Park Run

A thanks from Park Run

On behalf of Colchester Castle parkrun, may I thank Colchester Harriers for their very generous donation of £60 which David Wright passed to us today. The support of our local running clubs is essential to the ongoing success of our parkrun and is great to see Harriers well represented every week, both running and volunteering. You may also be interested to know that I have recently been appointed parkrun Ambassador with responsibility for a number of parkruns in the area (Ipswich, Ipswich Juniors, Kesgrave, Harwich, Great Cornard and Bury St Edmunds and of course Colchester Castle). Chairman’s AGM Report 2015

It is again my pleasure to address you again as Chairman of your Club. Again we have in many ways had a very successful year. Following our last AGM the Committee agreed to purchase a new professional built website. The main driver of this was Paul Strutt. Paul spent many long hours researching and after consultations with Committee Members we contracted a former member Dave Allworthy who now lives in Lincolnshire to build the website to our specifications. Paul was instrumental in most of the design in consultation with Dave. We now have a modern website and in the near future Coaches... read more

53-12 Ramsey

Strong winds and mud make the going tough Ramsey is always one of the toughest Cross Country Course and the strong winds and mud made the going very tough. Harriers were way below strength due to the previous days Essex XC League but nether-the-less were unlucky to finish 4th on the day in a very close run competition .  Harriers maintain joint 2nd place in the league and will be fielding a much stronger team at the next fixture at Gosfield School grounds. Harriers finishers were 3 Ged McMillan, 19 Keith Marley, 24 Martyn Clarke,27 John Fryer, 33 Sean Ketteridge  34 Russell Goodridge,... read more

Essex League XC – Horseheath

Mussett leads Harriers to joint top Colchester Harriers were in action at Horseheath Point to Point near Linton Cambridgeshire which strangely was the venue for the latest Essex Cross Country league fixture. The men’s league is exceptionally close this year and Harriers are determined to regain a crown not won for a good few years. Adrian Musset although well into his veteran years is still the man to beat and yet again he produced the goods with a fine 2nd position  behind Henry Pearce of Tonbridge who was a guest runner so Mussett chalked up another victory. Great packing came from... read more

Carwyn Jones takes overall prize

The Stebbing 10 held on November 8th drew to a close the 2015 Essex Road Race Grand Prix season which started many months ago with the Essex 20, followed by the Halstead Marathon, Brentwood 10k, Pleshey Half Marathon, Wix 5 miles and finally the weekend’s 10 mile road race, hosted this year by Grange Farm & Dunmow. Just 10 runners competed (and completed) all 6 races and 729 took part overall. The Remembrance Day event at Stebbing, is preceded by one minute’s silence adjacent to the start line, by the village church, to remember the members of the armed forces who have died in the... read more

Junior Awards 2015

A packed club house saw the presentation of the main awards and AAA certificates at the junior awards evening. It had been another fantastic year for the juniors with success in the 53/12 cross country league and record scores in the EYAL, as well as a number of fantastic individual performances, but once again it was the fantastic team spirit that had been at the heart of the success. The number of AAA certificates awarded also proved the improvement in all areas, with 39 different athletes reaching at least grade 4 of which nine reached the highest grade 1 level. Special thanks... read more

Essex League XC – Hockley

Mussett in command The 2nd round of the Essex Cross Country league saw Colchester Harriers men in cracking form boosted by their Talisman leader Adrian Mussett.  Mussett has been the victor in many Essex league matches over the years but this was an important fixture for the green vests as Essex league success is a priority this season. Team manager Pete West has a strong squad and when Mussett is in the team then victory is always likely. Mussett well into the veteran age group now  stormed away from the field over the Hilly Hockley course which is his favourite terrain and was well... read more

53-12 Cross Country – Gt Notley

Heath gives Harriers a fine 2nd spot The first 53-12 Cross Country meeting kicked off at Great Notley Country park in more like summer conditions , and a large field assembled to enjoy the Autumn sunshine. Harriers managed a good runners up spot on the day which was a nice start considering the green vests were in there 2nd cross country fixture of the weekend along with Springfield Striders  after the Essex league at Hockley the day previous. Richard Heath was unable to compete on Saturday but his 5th place on the day at Great Notley gave Harriers men 2nd spot, along with a good piece... read more
