Good team win for Harriers Colchester Harriers Ended the year at the Witham Boxing Day 5 mile road race with another team victory in what has been a very successful year for the Green vests with a host of County team and individual Championship medals over all distances the reward for the green vests. Adrian Mussett did suffer a rare defeat at Witham to Southends Paul Whittaker but his runner up spot was still excellent and he obviously took the first Veteran over 40 award. Southern Masters and Inter Counties XC

The Shuttleworth course near Biggleswade was the scene of the Southern Inter counties and Masters Championships. The Essex ladies Inter Counties team included veteran Colchester Harrier sarah Stradling who produced a superb performance to finish 20th overall and help Essex to team bonzes, Stradling was the 3rd scorer for the team. Ellie Street was representing Suffolk in the junior girls event and was a good 41st. Athlete of the year goes to Dominic The top prize at the Colchester Harriers senior awards night held at the Garrison track Clubhouse went to Olympic qualifier for the 50km Racewalk Dominic King. It was a family affair with twin brother Daniel taking the Jerry Everett award for outstanding achievement. Great runs by Holford and Shewbridge A huge field of 213 men and 100 ladies competed in the latest round of the 53-12 XC League at Gosfield School which is always one of the most popular courses on the circuit, 3 miles of wet and muddy Woodland with 2 miles of  playing fields greeted the runners on a mild December day. With a minutes silence held due to the loss earlier in the week of a popular Ipswich Jaffa member the race was under way. Park Run win for Millward

Millward wins on 100th Park run It was a double celebration for 13 year old Danny Millward at the latest Colchester Castle Park 5km. Talented  Millward  completed his 100th Park run and also amazingly won the race with a host of senior athletes behind him in the field of 215. Millward accelerated on the last lap to pass Andrew Lovelock 2nd 18-59, Max Caulfield 3rd 19-14, and David Wright 4th 19-15 , to come home the victory in 18-43. So close to the triple as harriers dominate The town of Colchester had its second major Championship in a week with Colchester Harriers staging the Essex  Veterans XC Championships a few days after the Eastern Championships had been run at Hilly Fields. Colchester Harriers have been a dominant force in the Veteran categories for years and nothing changed  at Abbey Fields with Harriers winning team gold in two out of the three races and team silvers in the other, and also crowned three County Champions a fine result. As Adrian Mussett storms home at the head of another excellent Harriers effort A few years ago the day of the Norwich half marathon sat beneath dark stormy clouds, with the noise of sleet and rain heavy against the roof of the luxury animal sheds that Joe Average was allocated; penned in, runners swirling penguin-like in an attempt to keep warm. Eastern XC Championships

Senior Men Colchester Harriers Men's team surged to victory in the Eastern Cross Country Championships held over a tough 12000m course in bitterly cold weather and strong winds at Hilly Fields. The bitter winds made the going extremely tough but the green vests who are leading the Essex XC League were determined to take the gold medals. 2nd claim Harrier Angus Holford swept to victory with his team mates cascading in behind him. City of Norwich Half Marathon Mussett wins again Over the years Adrian Mussett has won or been placed in the City of Norwich Half Marathon numerous times, and this year at the tender age of 43 he swept to victory again in a field of 3000. In very cold weather with snow falling as the runners set off Mussett set off at his normal fast pace to take the leading pack out early on and sweep to victory in 69.46 to take the senior and first veteran prize.
