Silverstone Half Marathon Shirley close to Personal Best Colchester Harriers Marie Shirley, who was a triple Essex medallist from the previous week's Essex 20 mile race, carried her form to the Silverstone half where she clocked 1:26:23 along with team mate Paul Preston, the course was 200 metres too long so Shirley would have claimed a best ever time if Silverstone had correctly measured the course. Essex 20 Championships – Langham

Harriers teams in brilliant form The first inter counties 20 mile race since 1990 was staged by Colchester Harriers within the Essex 20 mile road Championships held over a tough 3 lap course at Langham and Boxted. Colchester Ladies team were yet again County Champions with Marie Shirley producing the goods and winning a hat trick of County medals. Shirley 2:19:22,  was 2nd Essex home and so took the senior silver, the veteran over 35 gold, and the team gold along with Amanda Henry 2:22:35, and Andrea James 2:34:17. Lambton the latest star The weekend started at a cold Castle park where 290 runners swept past the superb Colchester Castle setting on the normal 5km course. Harriers juniors are winning these races on a regular basis and another up and coming 13 year old, Ziggy Lambton, led the field home in a new personal best of 18:50. In 3rd place and at the other end of the age spectrum was over 50 runner Pete West in 18:52. Winter season over at last ! The curtains finally closed on another long Cross Country season for Colchester Harriers which commenced in mid September with the Essex Cross Country relays at Hockley. Both mens and ladies team have been in the medals at every winter championship and the icing on the cake was the men winning the tough Essex league. Park run round up Millward in amazing form Danny Millward is only 14 but the Harrier is a supreme talent. At the Colchester Castle 5km, Millward produced a personal best run of 17-33 to beat seasoned ex international runner and club mate Allen Smalls also 17-33 into second place in a sprint finish. Coming 3rd was another 14 year old, Max Caulfield, in another staggering time of 17-56. Harriers maintain second spot Colchester Harriers  Cross Country season is drawing to a close with just one remaining fixture at Ipswich in the 53-12 league remaining  The green vests standard was to win the Essex XC league with the rest of the squad gaining second place overall in the 53-12 league, and also winning as many team medals in the Championship XC races as possible. Harriers men are Champions as records tumble A great day for the Colchester Harriers at the final Essex Cross Country League fixture of the season held at Abbey Fields, Harriers wrapped up the men's league title, the veteran men and veteran ladies titles and were a good third in the senior ladies competition, to complete their most successful season ever against top class opposition. Essex and Eastern Counties Indoor Championships

Colchester Harriers had an exceptional 2 days at the Essex & Eastern Counties indoor Championships at Lee Valley over the weekend with an abundance of Medals and PBs On Saturday it was the short sprinters in action. In the U15 girls 60m Kira Wealls came 2nd with a PB time of 8.30. Megan Stevens won her heat with another PB 8.35. Savannah Harrison also went in the 60m coming 5th in 8.55 PB Lauren Strutt closed the 60m with yet another PB coming 3rd in 8.59 Kira Wealls and Megan Stevens progressed through to the semi finals running 8.34 and 8.40  just missing out on a final position.... read more
