Five Athletes Selected For English Schools XC
Congratulations to the following athletes from the club that have been selected to run at the English Schools cross country race, to be held in Nottingham on March 5th
Name | Age Group | County |
---|---|---|
Danny Millward | Junior Boys | Essex |
Max Caulfield | Junior Boys | Essex |
Hannah Watson | Intermediate Girls | Essex |
Emma Livingstone | Intermediate Girls | Gloucestershire |
Ross Livingstone | Senior Boys | Gloucestershire |
Essex
Danny Millward and Max Caulfield both qualified directly for the Junior Boys Essex team by virtue of finishing 5th and 6th at the Essex Schools championship.
Ziggy Lambton ran well at the Essex Championships finishing 18th in the Junior Boys race, which gave him a second chance of qualification at the South East regional match. On a muddy course Ziggy had a storming run, finishing 53rd and 4th Essex runner home, but this wasn’t quite enough to secure a spot in the team for the English Schools final. However Ziggy will run in the same age group next year and so stands a great chance in next years race.
Hannah Watson finished 7th at the Essex Championship, just one place outside of the automatic qualification spots, but like Ziggy, this gave her a second chance of qualification via the South East regional match. The muddy course brought the best out of Hannah as she came in 23rd overall and helped the team to second place in the match. Hannah finished 6th for Essex in a strong team and this was enough to gain her one of the two wildcard spots.
Gloucestershire
Emma Livingstone (intermediate girls) and Ross Livingstone (senior boys) both go to school in Gloucestershire and qualified for their county teams via their country championships. Both Emma and Ross train with, and compete for, Colchester Harriers during the school holidays
