Angus way out in front Colchester Harriers had the first 4 men home in the latest jaunt around Castle Park, new signing  Angus Holford surged clear of the field to win in 16-42, with Allen Smalls runner up in 17-55. Harriers Dominate Colchester Harriers always target the Essex Road Championship races, and they went to the 5 mile event held at Wix with strength in depth in both the men’s and women’s categories, with strong hopes of individual and team medals. Dominic superb ! Rio Olympics qualifying time gained in Germany Its superb news for Colchester harriers race walking star Dominic King who has qualified for his 2nd Olympics at the Rio games with an incredible walk 0f 3-59-22 in the German race walk Championships held at Andemach which was an Olympic qualifying event. Dominic Kings time was a personal best and becomes the third fastest Britain of all time in this tough event. Mussett still the Cross Country man to beat Adrian Mussett may be a veteran runner but he is still far too good for all the younger runners who keep trying to edge him off the perch as the number one most consistent runner in Essex for over 25 years. Mussett engineered the tough One tree Hill course at Langdon Park with respect and came home the winner in 28-40, 9 seconds ahead of Grant Twist of Chelmsford AC. Heath clocks a good time At the Royal Parks Half Marathon Richard Heath clocked a good  1-17-54. Tiptree 10 At the Tiptree 10 mile Paul Rodgers ran his second race of the weekend in a personal best 61-24 for 10th place at the Tiptree 10 mile race, Keith Marley was 16th 64-07, Simon Taylor 28th 66-30, while Richard Boden was pleased with 67-33, just ahead of James Waterson 68-40, and then came Dan  Wilkinson in 75-00. Good result for Harriers A team of Colchester Harriers, had good results at the scenic and hilly Chester metric 26.2km Marathon, held in conjuction with the full marathon. Over 5000 competed with 1200 in the metric race in one of the most wel l organized races in the country. Southend 10k Mussett in good form The Southend 10km was dogged by a wrong turn on course which saw the runners extend the course by over 300 metres, Adrian Mussett still ran superbly and was runner up behind local man Paul Whittaker. Rebecca Coole also did very well although her time was a minute adrift due to the marshalling error. Mablethorpe Marathon A fine effort by Alice Addison  saw the Harrier run a personal best 3-10 for 2nd place in the Mablethorpe Marathon. Addison will aim for sub 3 hours next year. It was a bright and sunny late summer day at Peterborough and proved to be perfect conditions for PBs. Four of the club's young athletes were in action U15 Girls pentathlon Charlotte Hoskyns and Rachel Hoddell in their first pentathlons along with Lauren Strutt all competed in the penthalon and made the best of the conditions with a number of great performances and PBs Charlotte put in excellent performances in all five events, scoring 2,137 points in her first combined events competition to secure the silver medal in the Suffolk Championship.
