Rob Earle Colchester Harriers Rob Earle Competed in the British Masters Championships in Birmingham on the weekend, and what a weekend he had! In extremely testing weather conditions, Rob contested the M50 Hammer and threw a fantastic 56.08 meters to win gold. This was also a seasons best performance and puts Rob 3rd in the world rankings for this event. He also took part in the Shot 12.80 weight and threw another seasons best of 19.01 meters winning gold again and placing him 4th in the world rankings Helen Bloomfield Helen was also competing and came away with a fine silver medal... read more

Two Harriers athletes competed for the U13 Essex team in an inter counties match against high class opposition at Kingston in London. Hudson shows inner strength A quieter weekend at last for the Harriers saw individuals still competing in numerous events in the good weather. Jo Hudson has trained extremely hard for the Iron man event in Bolton, Hudson who won team county gold for Harriers at the Essex 10km at Brentwood a fortnight ago, went to the extreme distance on the famous and original  Iron Man course. Hudson had a good swim completing the 2.4 mile swim in 1-20 , then the 112 mile bike was tough but she still completed the distance in 7-19, and finally run the full 26.2 mile marathon in a great time of 3.55 for... read more

U17 Inter Counties – Marlow

5 of Colchester Harriers athletes were selected to represent Essex in the recent U17s Inter Counties competition recently in Marlow Buckinghamshire. Tom Mitchell capped a fine season so far with a magnificent PB throw of 51.01 finally cracking the 50meter mark in really blustery conditions. To come 2nd overall. Millie Belbin made her well deserved debut in the Essex vest competing in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Ekiden Relays

Harriers dominate Marathon Relay Ipswich Jaffa stage one of the most popular races in the calendar the Ekiden 6 stage Marathon relay with 200 teams on the start line running on a 2.5km circuit  around the grounds of Woodbridge School. As normal the event was full of action ups and downs and confusion and culminated in the results being unable to be given out as the chip timing completely failed. South of England Inter-Counties

Colchester Harriers Nicola Martell-Smith, Kelly Sutton and Jade Morgan all competed for Essex at the South of England Inter Counties Championships held at Crawley. Martel-Smith placed 2nd in the 400m Hurdles in 65.05secs, while Sutton had a busier time competing in the 100m in a time of 12.37sec.the 200m coming 3rd in 25.48secs and was in the winning 4 x 100m winning relay team. English Schools Championships

English Schools Gateshead What a couple of days it was for 3 young Colchester Harrier athletes at the 2015 English Schools Championships up in sunny Gateshead this weekend. Bronze for Philippa Davenhall U17 girl Philippa Davenall produced the throw of her life in the hammer competition to win an incredible bronze medal. The throw was a massive PB by 5 meters and has catapulted Philippa to 4th in the UK rankings just 4.92 meters short of the UK world U18 standard of 62 meters. Bob was a Past President of Colchester Harriers and one of the founders of Trail running in North Essex. Bob was active for many years, and was with George Bennington when George died whilst taking part in a trail race. Bob never recovered and became an infrequent visitor to the Club. Bob and Jackie were close friends right up until his death, and frequently cycled throughout the lanes of North Essex. Essex 10k Championships

Double team gold at Brentwood Colchester Harriers monopolised the Essex 10km over a good Blackmore course in wet conditions. The mens and ladies teams took the team gold medals which is always for the club the main priority. The ladies were led home by Laura Shewbridge 40.08 who took the individual bronze medal for a superb 3rd place, Shewbridge had a fine 2nd half and came through the field to lead the team to golds, Joanna Hudson 41-34 was next in 8th place although running on tired legs due to ironman training, and Andrea James won her first County medal in 9th spot 42-13 a well... read more

Lord Mayors 5km Norwich Richard Heath ran 17.00 dead to finish 14th in the Lord Mayors 5km at Norwich Colchester Parkrun Ian Haws ran a personal best 19-03 to finsh 3rd in the Colchester Castle park run, Allen Smalls was 4th, Danny Millward 6th, Ellie mayne 8th and first lady, and Ethan Thrower 12th. Maldon Promenade 5km At Maldon park a large contingent of Harriers ran the latest Maldon Promenade 5km, with Danny Millward only 13 running the 2nd fastest time on the night of 17-54.
