Hudson shows inner strength

A quieter weekend at last for the Harriers saw individuals still competing in numerous events in the good weather. Jo Hudson has trained extremely hard for the Iron man event in Bolton, Hudson who won team county gold for Harriers at the Essex 10km at Brentwood a fortnight ago, went to the extreme distance on the famous and original  Iron Man course.

Hudson had a good swim completing the 2.4 mile swim in 1-20 , then the 112 mile bike was tough but she still completed the distance in 7-19, and finally run the full 26.2 mile marathon in a great time of 3.55 for an overall time of 12 hours and 50 minutes.

Triathlon

Sprint Triathlons were completed by Andrea James who ran her debut in the Triathlon in 1 hour 18 mins for 21st lady overall at Grays, while Rachel Richardson-Wright competed in  the same distance at Egon Dormay and was pleased with her time of 1-14.

Barrow Challenge

Malcolm Statham bought his Marathon total to 162 competing in the Barrow Challenge which is 4 Marathons in 4 days clocking 4-06, 4-12, 4-16, and 4-01.

Brantham 5

Allen Smalls finished 3rd in the Brantham 5 while Kenny Walsh, Fay Smalls ,and Malcolm Statham all ran well.

Park Runs

At the Park runs the normal Colchester Castle event was moved to the Rugby Club , Mill Road due to the carnival, and although a flat course the wind and grass made it a tough race,   Anthony Barraclough a well valued Club Member ran his last race before leaving to work in Germany and was a fine 3rd in 17-11, Mark Harrod was 5th 17-31, and Allen Smalls 7th in 17-51, Paul Rodgers 8th ran a personal best 18-17 ,   with Rob Smith 10th 18-49. Emma Burgess was first lady in a terrific best ever time of 18-58. At the Ipswich park run Richard Heath ran 17-42 to win the event over the Chantry Park grassed course.
