Dominic superb ! Rio Olympics qualifying time gained in Germany
Its superb news for Colchester harriers race walking star Dominic King who has qualified for his 2nd Olympics at the Rio games with an incredible walk 0f 3-59-22 in the German race walk Championships held at Andemach which was an Olympic qualifying event.
Dominic Kings time was a personal best and becomes the third fastest Britain of all time in this tough event. King was 51st in the London Olympics clocking 4-15-05 and hopes to carry this form now on to Rio where he will compete proudly again for his country. Dominic and twin brother Daniel have been a main stay of international race walking for years and both have appeared in the commonwealth games and a host of the highest quality races the world can offer, as well as being National champions various times at all race walking distances.
Dominic has been in top form all this year, and in March won the French 50km in 4-11-53, but this is a huge step up to become one of the rare walkers to bust 4 hours for the 50km ( 31 mile) distance.
