Southend Open

A handful of athletes from Colchester harriers attended a very wet Southend open on Bank Holiday Monday with some very good results and plenty of medals to show for their efforts too

Aliyah Soames (U13) who came away with a gold medal in the javelin, and also ran a 100m PB of 15.13. Isabella Minder (U13) who performed very well and although no medals she achieved a very good PB in the 100m. Hannah Rodgers (U13) won the 1500 to come away with a gold medal.

From the U15 girls Lauren Strutt won a gold in the high jump, after a good run in the 100m and long jump. Kira Wealls came away with a bronze in the 200m and competed well in the 100m and shot put

In the U17 women Rebecca Jeggo returned from running in the Nationals to come away with a silver medal in the 200m. Millie Belbin put in a fine performance to come away with a trio of medals – silver for 100m and bronze for long and triple jump. Courtney Bland equalled her PB in the high jump to come away with a gold medal and got a silver medal in the triple jump.

From the boys, Tom mitchell (U17) threw 51.31m in the javelin to win a gold medal and breaking his own club record. Max Caulfield (U15) ran to a silver medal in the 3000m in 10:42
