Georgina jumps into top ten ranking Harriers young athletes put up a great fight as they competed their second EYAL meet of the season against stiff opposition at Chelmsford Athletic track on Sunday 4 June. Ridley is number one Great results came from Colchester Harriers over the last week, over 55 runner Colin Ridley produced an effort of 35:15 at the London National 10km to become the British number one over the distance. Ramadam Osman was not at his best but still clocked 33:50, with Paul Rodgers 36:39 and Danny Millward 36:44, Paul Spowage returned to form in 37:01, while Craig Mitchell passed the line in 39:53. Good run by Elsie at Copenhagen Colchester Harriers Elsie Bisson knocked 4 minutes off her personal best clocking 3:10 at the Copenhagen marathon High Easter 10km It was personal bests for Ian Haw 36:45 and Wayne Cook 37:18 at the High Easter 10km, Laura Shewbridge 39:12 carried on with her improvement finishing 2nd lady and first veteran. Bury To Clare James Wright and Paul Rodgers enjoyed the 18.6 mile Bury to Clare off road race, both went off course numerous times as happens in these races, but both recovered with Wright 2nd and Rodgers 6th overall. Colchester Harriers claimed second place in the highly competitive Southern Athletic League Division One meeting in Harrow on Sunday. Charlie Dobson and Philippa Davenhall were the star attractions as they won performances of the day in the 200 metres and the Hammer throw. Charlie clinched a personal best in the 200m to claim his second A string win of the day, and gain him the English schools entry standard. Harriers Excel at Essex Champs Excellent performances were gained by Colchester's green vests at this year's Essex Athletics Track and Field Championships in Chelmsford over the weekend of 13 / 14 May - bringing home a total haul of 17 medals. Double team wins for Harriers at Colchester 10km Colchester Harriers surged to a double team win at the Colchester 10km held from their base at the Garrison track. Ramadam Osman was first home in 2nd spot clocking 33:16 on a warm and windy morning. Joining him in the winning team was Colin Ridley 3rd in 35:06 and Mark Harrod 6TH 35:57. Danny Millward 7th 36:18 and Paul Rodgers 10th 36:47 all ran well. The ladies were led home by Sarah Stradling who at last is back to racing winning in 38:26 with Laura Shewbridge 2nd 39:30 and Lucy Mapp 3rd 40:29. PB’s galore for Green vests to claim 3rd place

Thurrock hosted the first Eastern Young Athletics League meet of the year for Colchester Harriers and what a great day was had by this young team, claiming over 80 PB’s between seasoned team members and a large number who were making their debut for the club. Harrier’s coaches have worked hard over recent months to recruit and train hurdlers and their efforts were not disappointed by those who took on the challenge. Shirley breaks Halstead marathon record as Harriers dominate Essex Marathon Colchester Harriers distance squad rattled with medals after leaving the Essex marathon Championships over the very tough Halstead Course. It was Essex Champions for Allen Smalls Senior and Veteran gold, Marie Shirley also senior and Veteran Gold, Steph Horner vet over 45 champion and Clive Thomas veteran over 50 gold medallist. On the first day of the 2017 Essex County Championships at Blackshots Athletics Stadium, Thurrock on Monday, Colchester Harriers young all round athlete Madeleine Claydon, finished a fine 13th overall in the under 15 girls pentathlon, in less than ideal conditions. In cool, wet and windy conditions Madeleine, who was competing in her first combined events competition, scored a total of 1,634 points from the five events, to finish ninth of the girls from Essex competing in the County Championship event. Cracking wins for Mussett and Smalls Adrian Musset continues to fight back the years winning the high class Grand East Anglia 10km in Kings Lyn at a canter in a solid time of 33:50, Musset also took the veterans prize and is still one of the top veteran and senior runners in the country. Anita Mussett clocked a good 49:49. Allen Smalls won the Heritage half Marathon at Thorpeness a tough off road event along Sizewell Beach and Minsmere Forest in 1:22, this was Smalls 9th victory here which includes a few full marathon victories as well.
