2017 has been a breakthrough season for Harriers U20 sprinter, Charlie Dobson (coached by Stephen Garnham), having medalled at the English Schools and competed for Essex Senior team, this week will see him don the British vest as he takes part in the Manchester International on Wednesday 16 August. Superb Performances at Last EYAL

Harriers young athletes travelled to Stevenage for the last EYAL meet of the year and came away with a solid 4th place finish which included some superb stand out performances. August is always a difficult month to get a team out, but although low in numbers, there was a big team feel amongst those who competed in hot conditions. Colchester Harriers played host for the penultimate EYAL match on Sunday 30 July and succeeded in claiming a good third place ahead of rivals Colchester and Tendring.   Highlights of the day saw young sprinter Graig Anya Joseph up against top European U15 sprint hurdler Joseph Harding from Basildon in the 100m.  Joseph managed to cling on in a thrilling run that rewarded both athletes the same time, 11.1s but it was the green vest who gained top marks and yet another PB breaking his own Club record he set at the English Schools championships.  Training partner Henry Lawes was... read more

Congratulations to Colchester Harriers athlete Caitlin O' Reilly who was selected to represent Ireland in the U18 girls 4 x 100m relay team at the Celtic Games being held at Swansea . Caitlin ran the 4th leg and powered away from the field to bring the Irish team home in 1st place for the gold medal. Great win for Flutter Colchester Harriers Richard Flutter is in great form and swept to his first ever half marathon victory over a torturous 10 lap course at the Ilford cycle course in terrible conditions and with 10 large hills to take on. Simon Smith ran 13 laps of the Olympic park Velodrome half marathon circuit to finish in 1:30, Becky Cooke did well to finish second lady in her first triathlon held at Great Cornard and Rachel Richardson-Wright raced the Maldon Triathlon which had a 5:45 am start and finished well up in the ladies. Essex County call ups for Harriers athletes

On Saturday 29 July, two of Harriers youngest athletes made their Essex County debut at the Derek Crookes Southern Inter County U13 Match in Kingston. Zion Ateba competed as the B string runner in the 70m hurdles and after a good start and a competent run was disappointed to finish 4th in a time of 12.85s.  She then ran 1st leg of the Essex girls relay team which came in 4th. Team mate Georgina Smith jumped into 7th place in the girls Long Jump after her first attempt was a no jump; but showing strength of character, she continued and managed a leap of 4.32m. Quadruple victories for Harriers at Ekiden Colchester Harriers swept to quadruple victories to have their most successful Ekiden marathon relay ever at Woodbridge, where 200 teams took on the marathon distance over 6 legs. Harriers boosted 15 senior teams and 4 junior teams a record number of green vests competing in one competition. The only title that had eluded the green vests over the years was the overall senior mens race with 5 second places and Harriers put it right this year to romp home ahead of home club Ipswich Jaffa and in 3rd place Colchester Harriers veteran over 40 team.... read more

Individuals shine on a disappointing day for Harriers Colchester Harriers slumped to a fourth place finish in their latest Southern Athletics League Division One meeting in Chelmsford. Sitting 5th in the 16 team format, Colchester were narrowly beaten by three teams that all sit below them in the league.
