Superb runs by Musset, Rowe and Osman
Recent results by Colchester Harriers have produced some top class results, starting with Jordan Rowe who amazingly managed to break the course record at the Clacton 5km in the worse conditions imaginable in severe driving wind and rain Rowe clocked 15:50 minutes clear of the rest of the field. Richard Flutter 3rd (1st vet 45) and David Wright 5th (1st vet 55) made sure of the team win for the green vests which was duplicated by the ladies with Helen Thurlow sweeping to victory in only her third race for Harriers and was also first veteran 35, Fran Norris 1st veteran over 55 and Cathy Beard (1st over 65).
The Ipswich Twilight 5km is an elite race of the highest standard, Adrian Mussett still produces the goods finishing 13th in 15:16 and took the veterans prize with up and coming Ramadam Osman just behind in 14th running a personal best 15:25. Closing in the team was Nathan Filer 50th in another best time of 16:38. Pete West surprised everyone coming back to racing to clock 17:47 and was first veteran over 50. Other Harriers running superb times were Max Caulfield 16:47, Ged McMillan 16:49, Mark Harrod 16:59, Sarah Stradling 18:08, Richard Flutter 18:18, Richard Boden 18:23 and Richard Millward 19:03. In the 10km race Laura Shewbridge smashed her personal best coming home 3rd in 37:46, Paul Preston ran 37:49 and Clive Thomas was first veteran over 55 in 38:04, Chris Manby edged back to form in 40:02. While Simon Miller also ran well along with Rachel Rodgers and Louise Yates.
The Clacton 10km and half Marathon was also very windy but harriers were in top form with in the 10km Keith Marley 3rd (1st vet over 45), Richard Flutter 4th and David Wright 7th (1st veteran over 55), while Helen Thurlow and Jenny Richardson were joint 3rd overall, both first in their veteran categories.
Simon Smith was first over 55 in the Half marathon, while Ian Haw was a top 10 finisher and Alex Sales was also well to the fore, as was Simon Wilson, Chris Manby and Becky Cooke ran a good training race.
The Norwich 10km saw a devastating run from Adrian Musset who was first veteran and 3rd in 32:33, while Sarah Stradling was runner up and 2nd Veteran in 37:57, over a very windy course.
Rebecca Cooke swept to victory in the recent Dolgellau park run in mid Wales, with David Wright 7th and Chris Manby 8th. The week previous Wright finished 4th at Dolgellau, with Rachel Richardson-Wright winning her age category. Nat Filer won the last two Colchester Castle Park runs and Andy Raynor and Sarah Stradling had fine victories at the Mersea Park run. Helen Thurlow ran a personal best at the Clacton park run in 23:02.
