Ramadam has terrific victory

Ramadam Osman had a terrific run at the Great Bentley Half marathon which was run in near perfect conditions.  Osman clocked a superb 1hr 08m 53s to win the race, eighty seconds clear of the second place runner. New signing Mark McKeown was 16th in an excellent 1hr 16m 35s, Jason Gunn strode home in 18th spot in 1hr 16m 45s. Paul Rodgers won the over 45 prize clocking a personal best 1hr 18m 40s. Second over 45 was Paul Preston in 1hr 18m 57s. Champion Sprinters

Saturday 2nd February and day one of the Essex and Eastern Counties Indoor Championships at Lee Valley belonged to experienced sprinter Joy Ogunleye. After a blistering start in her U20W 60m heat, she closed off the gas with ten metres to the line to qualify through to the final.  Hours later and she was back to challenge for the gold medal.  Looking strong and confident in warm up, she committed from the gun and delivered a fine performance to cross the line with air between her and second place in a new Championship Best Performance, PB and Club Record of 7.64s. Harriers men successful at the Southern Cross Country Championships

The toughest Cross Country in Britain is probably the senior men’s Southern Cross Country Championship held over 15,000m of Parliament Hills.  The iconic course with the famous hill is a real test and the best of the south's runners are always here. Colchester Harriers had targeted the   Essex Cup for the first Essex county team to get twelve runners home. A Brace of Bronzes at Season Opener

The South of England AA Indoor age group Championships, held at Lee Valley over the weekends of 12/13th January and 19/ 20 January, saw a number of Harriers T & F athletes open their 2019 track season. Kicking off was Maya Rattray in the U17w 60m on Saturday 12 January. Using the experience as a chance to test how her training is going and also to lay down a new PB , she ran well to finish 5th in her heat in 8.26s and ending the day in the top half of the field of over 40 athletes. Milly shines at the Essex Schools Cross Country Championships

A number of Colchester Harriers young athletics competed for North East Essex in the Essex Schools Cross Country Championships at the Apex Playing Fields, Hockley on Saturday. The best placed Harrier was Milly Presland who finished sixth in the Inter Girls race to qualify for the English Schools Cross Country Championships at Leeds in a few weeks time. Richard clocks up 250 Park runs

Colchester Harriers Richard Flutter reached a landmark 250 Park runs at the weekend running in the Treviso Park run in Italy. Flutter finished 2nd in 19m 58s with team mate Debbie Cattermole 3rd and first lady in 21m 55s, both Harriers set new age group records. The Benfleet 15 is a very tough muddy off road race, always run in very cold conditions, it is a real test for runners, but James Wright had an excellent run leading the green vests home in 13th spot in an impressive 1h 39m 54s. Harriers close in on winning North Essex Cross Country League title

The club inflicted a rare home defeat on rivals Ipswich JAFFA in the fourth round of the North Essex and South Suffolk Cross Country league. With two races to go the Harriers lead by five points, meaning just finishing third in each of the remaining fixtures will bring the title back to Colchester for the first time in many years. Two sets of team medals at Essex XC Championships

The Harriers competed well in  a high quality Essex Senior Cross Country Championships held at Writtle College in cold but good conditions. The under 17 mens race saw a superb effort by the courageous Danny Millward who fought to the line for a county medal only to be beaten by a second for the bronze medal in a extremely good field. Thomas Palmer also ran very well for his 17th spot. The under 20 men produced a surprise taking, the bronze team medals. It was the Harriers first ever team medals in this age group.
