Ramadam has terrific victory

Ramadam Osman had a terrific run at the Great Bentley Half marathon which was run in near perfect conditions.  Osman clocked a superb 1hr 08m 53s to win the race, eighty seconds clear of the second place runner. New signing Mark McKeown was 16th in an excellent 1hr 16m 35s, Jason Gunn strode home in 18th spot in 1hr 16m 45s. Paul Rodgers won the over 45 prize clocking a personal best 1hr 18m 40s. Second over 45 was Paul Preston in 1hr 18m 57s. Gavin Scanlon clocked 1hr 20m 02s, then came Wayne Cook 1hr 21m 59s, Colin Ridley 1hr 23m 31s (1st over 55 ), Keith Marley 1hr 24m 41s, Craig Mitchell 1hr 25m 53s, Kevin Higgins 1hr 26m 46s. Jay Waite ran his fastest ever half marathon in 1hr 27m 10s, then came Tim Holden 1hr 29m 40s, Stuart Prestney 1hr 29m 54s, Simon Ford 1hr 30m 16s, Graham Langford 1hr 30m 50s and Malcolm Statham, who was pleased with 1hr 39m 45s. Finishers for the ladies were Kate Gibson and Rachel Rodgers.

Paul Spowage had a superb race at the Chichester 10km in the British Veterans Champs finishing 2nd over 55 in 36m 37s to qualifying for an England Vest in May.

Colchester Harriers veteran ladies wrapped up the Essex Cross Country league title after a fine performance at Gloucester Park, Basildon. Denise Morley was 14th Helen Taczynski 17th and Debbie Cattermole 27th. All the veterans had run superbly  all season and deserved their glory. The senior ladies finished the season a fine 4th with great runs from Rebecca Cooke 22nd and Ella Neale 24th. Denise Morley took the individual bronze over 45 category for the season and Helen Taczynski the individual bronze for the over 35 category. Danny Millward also took the individual bronze in the under 17 men’s category, after finishing 5th on the day. Milly Presland has had a good cross country season finishing 4th overall in the under 15 girls category. The senior men were pleased with 4th position overall for the season with good runs on the day from Ed Mitchell 4th, Nathan Filer 13th, Gavin Scanlon 30th, Tim Ballard 68th, and Andy Taczynski 106th.  

Other junior finishers at Basildon were Madeleine Claydon 20th and Emily Henderson 31st in the under 15 girls race and Charlie Parmenter 31st, William Long 33rd and Harrison Leek 34th in the under 13 boys race. Alice Begg was 27th in the under 13 girls race.

Icy conditions greeted a field of 400 runners at the Colchester Castle Park run on Saturday. Angus Holford was runner up with Ermeas Aferwerki 3rd, Fergus Crouch 4th, Ian Haw 5th and Rob Cronshaw 6th. Just outside the top ten were Richard Boden 11th and David Wright 14th. For the ladies Jordi Moat was runner up with junior Lizzie Wellsted fourth lady for the third consecutive week. Fran Norris was seventh lady home in 24m 16s. In the age gradings for the run Fran was top with 77.75% and David Wright second with 76.53%

Andy Jobling won the Mersea Island, Cudmore Grove Park run with Dan Beard second.
