It was great to see competitions back in the calender this year including a handful of our league matches– albeit in more localised bubbles- if you can call Norwich local – and without trophies or promotion / relegations to chase and defend in the EYAL and SAL  – at least it gave our athletes the opportunity to put their hard work into practise and produce some great personal achievements – especially when competing on home soil. Harriers Strike Double Gold at Chelmsford

Colchester Harriers continued their run of success in the Essex County Championship road race series with another strong all round performance in the 10K event at Chelmsford on Sunday.  Colin Ridley (35:37) and William Haining (43:49) led the way, both claiming the gold medals in their respective age groups, whilst Ram Osman ran 34:01 to claim 15th place overall out of a field of nearly 400. Harriers Clean Up at Stebbing

Colchester Harriers’ athletes continued their run of success in this season’s Essex County Championship series with a show of strength at the 10 mile Remembrance Day race at Stebbing. The women led the way sweeping both gold and silver in the team competition thanks to some stunning individual performances. Heidi Hogan-Steele ran a personal best (PB) at the distance for the second time in 5 weeks to take individual gold in a time of 1:02:24. Harriers on an Autumn Roll

Colchester Harriers’ athletes continued their run of success in the autumn marathon season with some fine performances in Sunday’s Chelmsford Marathon.  Steve Wilkins led the way on the local course with a superbly paced 3:11:09 to take more than an hour off his previous personal best (PB) time for the distance.  Kev Stevens clocked 3:34:56 finishing just ahead of Tina Southgate who finished third in her age group in a time of 3:35:53.  Chris Stevenson won V60 county bronze as he finished his first ever marathon in 3:36:34, George Hayes clocked 3:47:20 whilst Arthur Whiston took V70... read more

Primmer Races Home in Berlin

Colchester Harriers’ rising star, Victoria Primmer, continued her recent rapid improvement across all distances with a remarkable run as the autumn marathon season got properly under way with the 47th running of the Berlin Marathon. The 26 year old defied temperatures rising into the mid 20 degrees centigrade to run an excellently paced race, running 1:37:36 for the first half of the race and then gradually accelerating to post 1:34:20 for the second half to record an overall time of 3:11:56. by Steven Shippey Saturday 11th September saw the return of the South of England Inter County U15/U20 Championships at Horspath in Oxford and Colchester Harriers had two athletes selected to represent Essex at this event. First up, was first year U20 Sam Shippey in the 400m who got out quickly and ran a strong final bend to finish in 2nd place with a new PB of 50.47. Harriers Girls Storm To Gold

The Colchester Harriers Ladies’ team announced their arrival on the county athletics stage with a resounding victory at the Essex Half Marathon Championships, held in Pleshey. On an unexpectedly sultry autumn morning the team swept all before them to take a convincing team gold medal thanks to a stream of fine performances.
