Harriers on an Autumn Roll

Colchester Harriers’ athletes continued their run of success in the autumn marathon season with some fine performances in Sunday’s Chelmsford Marathon.  Steve Wilkins led the way on the local course with a superbly paced 3:11:09 to take more than an hour off his previous personal best (PB) time for the distance.  Kev Stevens clocked 3:34:56 finishing just ahead of Tina Southgate who finished third in her age group in a time of 3:35:53.  Chris Stevenson won V60 county bronze as he finished his first ever marathon in 3:36:34, George Hayes clocked 3:47:20 whilst Arthur Whiston took V70 county bronze with a remarkable run of 3:59:42.

Wilkins, Stevenson and Stevens all ran well at the Chelmsford Marathon

Harriers also enjoyed success at the Capel 5 Mile road race with Richard Heath (27:53 – 2nd), Tom Cresswell (28:20 – 4th) and Colin Ridley (29:22 – 7th) all finishing in the top 10 men whilst Victoria Primmer (32:34 – PB) and Justine Sheekey (33:45 – PB) were the first two women home.

Victoria and Justine were the first two ladies home at the Capel 5.

In parkrun action Heidi Hogan-Steele continued her fine run of form to finish first female at Maldon in a time of 19:14, Simon Ford (19:08) and Ellie Cumner (20:11) were first male and female at Harwich, Jon Battram (20:00) and Tracy English (20:46) also did the double at Colchester Highwoods whilst Chris Sellens (20:19), Russell Goodridge (20:19) and Marcus Cox (20:38) all finished in the top 5 at Mersea Island.
