British Association of Hammer Thrower by Rob Earle Several of Harriers successful throws group attended and competed at the annual Hammer Circle Reunion held in Hull over 12 / 13 October 2019. The weekend was a gathering of some of the finest hammer throwing talent, in many age groups from around the UK, Including world finalist Nick Miller, who was very close to a podium finish in Doha. Great start for champions at Gosfield

Colchester Harriers are attacking both the Senior Essex XC League and the Ellisons Sunday XC League with a view to winning both, and after a good runners up spot at One Tree Hill last week in the Essex League, defending champions Harriers scorched to victory over a muddy Gosfield Woods course in the first Sunday League fixture of the season. The 2019 Annual General Meeting will be held on the evening of Friday 8th November at the Pegasus Clubhouse Circular Road North - Colchester. A buffet will be provided and members will also be requested to sign in. The meeting will commence promptly at 7.30pm. Mussett leaves young rivals in his wake to gain another victory

Colchester Harriers cross country season got off to a great start with Harriers talisman Adrian Mussett storming to victory over the tough One Tree Hill course at Langdon Hills Country Park. Although nearly 47, Mussett destroyed the much younger field with his normal front running style and helped Harriers to a good runners up position on the day. Adrian Mussett, though nearly 47, keeps turning out the records. At Mersea park run at Cudmore Grove Adrian lowered his existing course record in clocking a time of 15m 38s. He is the only runner to have beaten 16 minutes at Mersea and Colchester Castle although many have tried and not reached such a high standard.  The Southend 10km saw a fine run by Jennifer Lovelock finishing third lady in 40m 24s, Ella Jeffries clocked 43m 05s. Harriers quartet are cross country relay champions

The Harriers boosted a very strong turn out at the first cross country event of the season, the Essex relays held at Writtle College over a 5km course in windy conditions. It was a great day for the Harriers against top class opposition as the mixed team of four stormed home to take county gold. The Quartet were led off by Heidi Steele who has shot up the Essex rankings and is back to her best of a few years ago. Colchester Harriers seniors were competing in various top class events at the weekend with some great results coming from the green vests. The Tooting Bec track in London saw the 24 hour Self Transcendence race running from noon on Saturday. It was a testing event for the clubs top two ultra men Nate Filer and Allen Smalls. Both of them stuck to their game plans and saw the event through with Nate Filer coming home fourth covering 210 kms as the 24 hours ended with a very tired Allen Smalls in sixth place running 199kms. By Rob Earle Ipswich 14th September At the end of a long season some of the Harriers senior men throwers were to the fore, and heavy points scorers, at the East of England Inter counties championships in Ipswich when competing for Essex. The six - team format saw wins for the Senior men’s team, and the combined male and female team. First off, with a very early start, was Billy Praim Singh who scored an emphatic win in the Hammer with 51.51. In the B competition Rob Earle was able to add another win to take maximum points. Stradling and Mussett continue to fly flag

Colchester Harriers top male and female runners over decades continue to fly the flag for the green vests, Sarah Stradling and Adrian Mussett have won countless races and championship medals and still are good enough to win races as both showed with Mussett smashing the course record at the Dedham 10km at 47 years old in 32m 55s. Sarah Stradling was the first lady home and 11th overall in 39m 19s, just pipping team mate Aiko Hennington 39m 28s. Further good runs came from Ella Jefferies 42m 27s and Jordi Moat 43m 33s. Fabulous 4th Place Finish

Fielding an almost full team sheet the young green vests enjoyed an excellent day of track and field action at the EYAL Plate Final on a warm and often breezy Sunday 15 September. Hosted at Bedford International Stadium, two weeks later than the same event last year, all was still to play for as the relays took to the track at the end of the day – with Harriers lying in third place.
