By Rob Earle Ipswich 14th September At the end of a long season some of the Harriers senior men throwers were to the fore, and heavy points scorers, at the East of England Inter counties championships in Ipswich when competing for Essex. The six - team format saw wins for the Senior men’s team, and the combined male and female team. Stradling and Mussett continue to fly flag

Colchester Harriers top male and female runners over decades continue to fly the flag for the green vests, Sarah Stradling and Adrian Mussett have won countless races and championship medals and still are good enough to win races as both showed with Mussett smashing the course record at the Dedham 10km at 47 years old in 32m 55s. Sarah Stradling was the first lady home and 11th overall in 39m 19s, just pipping team mate Aiko Hennington 39m 28s. Further good runs came from Ella Jefferies 42m 27s and Jordi Moat 43m 33s. Fabulous 4th Place Finish

Fielding an almost full team sheet the young green vests enjoyed an excellent day of track and field action at the EYAL Plate Final on a warm and often breezy Sunday 15 September. Hosted at Bedford International Stadium, two weeks later than the same event last year, all was still to play for as the relays took to the track at the end of the day – with Harriers lying in third place. Team win at Langham for Harriers

The Langham 10km boasted a sell out field of more than 500 runners, with many green Colchester Harrier vests taking part. Heidi Steele ran a personal best 37m 47s to come home second lady and 21st overall eleven seconds behind second claim Harrier and Springfield Strider Nikki Woodyard. Madeleine Claydon 47m 25s and Danny Millward 38m 00s both won awards for the first under 18 runners. Tommy Colsell 38m 20s and Charlie Walden 43m 36s filled the minor places. The Essex Way Relay…. and other news

The Harriers competed in the Essex Way Relay for the first time in many years and enjoyed the day in what is a great low key ten stage relay race held over 80 miles from Epping to Harwich. The A team finished second overall behind Springfield Striders with Allen Smalls and James Wright winning their legs and Nate Filer second despite veering off course. The ladies were fourth overall, a brilliant result by them after only deciding late to enter. Sarah Stradling and Rachel Rodgers, along with Louise Yates and Mellissa Dowell all ran good legs. Harrier’s Perform at British Champs

The UKA British Championships took place at the Alexander Stadium Birmingham over the Bank Holiday weekend 24/ 25 August 2019. With the Championships also acting as trials for the World Championships in Doha at the end of September, the event drew the top athletes in the country, contesting for the coveted prize of British Champion and team selection. Three Colchester Harriers athletes competed in their respective events. by Max Simon Olivia Simon and Hollie Martin-Whymark were the club's only representatives at the South of England Age Group (u13/U15/U17) Championships held at Ashford this year. Delayed by road closures and subsequent heavy traffic on Saturday 17th August , Martin-Whymark was unable to compete the U13 girls 200m and so just had the 100m to contest.
