South of England Championships
Three Colchester Harriers athletes competed in the Southern Counties Championship at Ashford on Saturday.
Jake Young was first up in the U17 men 800m where he returned to somewhere near his best gaining himself a very well deserved silver medal in a time of 1:57.83.
Rebecca Jeggo continued her good run of form, winning the bronze medal in the U17 women’s 200m.
First year U17 Callum McKay went in a very strong 100m field where he qualified for the final in 2nd place in a time 11.2s. In the final Callum pulled up near the end of the race with a minor hamstring injury, still managing 5th place in a time of 11.25, sadly bringing a close to his season. Rebecca Jeggo and Jake Young will now move on to the national champs at the end of August in good form and will be looking to end their season on a high.
