Ipswich Twilight 5km and 10km

Superb times by Harriers in top class race

The Ipswich Twilight run on a fast course around Ipswich town centre produced some extremely fast times with a top class field of 120 trying to break their personal bests. Indeed the fastest time in the UK this year was run by Katrina Wooten of Coventry Godiva who clocked an astonishing 15:51, all of the first 8 ladies were under 17 minutes, while for the men International athlete Chris Thompson of Aldershot led the way home in 14:05, with Adam Hickey Southend runner up in 14:18 and Jake Shelley Shaftsbury Barnet third in 14:21.

The Colchester Harriers runners were excellent with incredibly fast times by the Green vests. Adrian Musset led the way home in 13th spot in 15:23 and took the first Veteran man prize, then came Angus Holford 25th 16:07 and Chris Sellens 35th 16:29. New singing Adam Sawyer ran a huge personal best clocking 16:29 for 44th place, with over 50 athlete Colin Ridley 47th in 16:54. Ged McMillan returned to the fray and looked good in 17:19 60th, with David Wright last Harrier in with the 58 year old clocking 18:32 for 81st position, Rebecca Cooke shattered her best ever time clocking 19:14. A 10Km race was held after the main event and Harriers Chris Manby was an excellent 16th producing a personal best in 38.49 and Jerry Walder was 42nd in 40:55, Rachel Rodgers ran well to complete a good night for the Harriers.

Park Run

The Colchester Castle Park run saw 307 runners compete on a bright warm morning, Colchester Harriers 14 year olds Max Caulfield 2nd in 18:27 and Alex Williamson 3rd in 18:38 are showing signs of being top class runners, over 50 Harrier Andy Raynor flew the flag for the elder runners in 4th spot 18:54, with Keith Marley running one of his best castle races in 6th spot in 18:58. Cameron Humpfries 19:08 ran easy for 7th as he builds up to his 24 hour track race in September. Jamie Nelson just made the top 10 in 19:25 as he recovers from his Iron Man event. Dan Marks ran 20:13, while David Wright 20:15 and Andrew Dagge 20:40 had their normal buggy and baby head to head race. Dan Wilkinson 20:24, Amanda Henry 20:57, Sophie Stephenson 21:49, Jasmine West 22:53 and Joanne Martin 24:33 were the other Harriers to compete.
