Colin is double Champion
Colchester Harriers Colin Ridley had a sparkling double over the weekend winning two titles at the Birmingham track to become a double British Masters over 55 Champion. Ridley won the 1500ms in 4:36 on the Saturday and made it a golden pair with a smart win in the 5000m in 17:08 on the Sunday.
Race Walking – New PB for Dominic
Dominic King set a new Colchester harriers 20km racewalk record in the World trials held at Leeds, King clocked an amazing 1:26:08 knocking 72 seconds off his personal best and eclipsing his twin brother Daniels standard. Dominic was 4th overall and third British.
Other races
Angus Holford had a great victory at Valentines park Ilford winning the 5km in 17:03, only the evening previous he had finished third in Orion Fell race held in Epping Forest.
Tom Cresswell was the lone Harrier at the Harwich 5km promenade run and was 5th fastest in 17:43.
The Maldon evening Promenade 5km saw harriers have a 1,2,3, in the ladies race thanks to Laura Shewbridge 18:45 ( Pb), Denise Morley 19:43 and Ella Neale 20:07, the other ladies to run well were Heidi Steele 21:37, Jenny Richardson 22:56, Fran Norris 23:01 and Rachel Richardson-Wright 30:53.
The men had 6 in ther first 8 with Danny Millward leading the way in 2nd spot 16:55, then came Doug McGill 3rd 17:32, Paul Rodgers 4th 17:40, Ian Haw 6th 17:57, Fergus Crouch 7th 18:03 and Jon nears 8th 18:10. Other men to clock good times were peter West 19:02, David Wright 19:35, Chris Manby 19:52, Richard Millward 19:59, Simon Morgan 21:03, Dan Wilkinson 21:14.
Anita Mussett and Lucy Ballantyne ran the very tough off road North Downs 30km in 3 hours 32 minutes.
A group of Harriers travelled to Nowton park Bury and did very well on a picturesque off road course park run course, Rebecca Cooke was 1st lady in 20:52, while Richard Heath ( 1st over 40 ) was 3rd overall in 17:58, with Mark Harrod 4th 18:02, Paul Rodgers 5th 18:22, Richard Flutter( 1st over 45 ) 9th 19:24, Clive Thomas( 1st over 55 ) 13th 19:38, Craig Mitchell 15th 19:52, David Wright 20th 20:08, Debbie Cattermole ( 1st over 55 ) 22:54, Fay Smalls 182nd 29:36 ( 100th Park run),Rachel Richardson-Wright 212th 32:02, Rachel Rodgers 265th 38:01. ( 284 ran )
At Colchester Castle Park run 332 runners took to the line, with Harriers having the first 3 home in Jon nears 18:24, Fergus Crouch 18:31 and Anthony Barraclough 18:47. Andy Raynor was 5th in 18:54, jasmine West was 2nd lady clocking 22:27.
