Eastern Championships, Cambridge University athletic track 24th June 2017.
There was a reduced number of Harriers to previous years at this event, but those attending competed well in blustery conditions, with a number bringing home medals.
The busiest athlete was Isabella Minder, who competed in the long jump, 75m hurdles and 200m, achieving a personal best of 31.76s in the 200m & a season’s best in the hurdles.
Talented pole vault U13 athlete Olivia Simon took the rare opportunity to take part in competition. Having to compete in the U15W event, she took silver with a jump of 2.10m. She then took gold in the shot putt, improving her previous personal best by well over a metre to win the event with 7.76m.
U20 javelin thrower Tom Mitchell continued his recent good form to win gold with a season’s best throw of 46.49m.
On the track, Rebecca Jeggo continued her domination in the sprints at the event, completing a hat trick of wins in both the 100m & 200m. Her times of 12.11, & 24.88 were both U20W championship bests, with the 100m time being a club record in her age group.
Max Caulfield took part in a busy 1,500m, with Senior, U20, and U17 athletes running in the one race. Max kept his focus, running into a strong headwind on the back straight, to take bronze in a time of 4:24.38.
Sebastien Jacobs ran his first competitive 100m in a Harriers vest, recording a time of 14.15s
