53-12 Seniors
The 2nd round of the 53-12 Cross Country League was held in very dry conditions at Ramsey, a first for this venue. Colchester Harriers led from the first round at Abbeyfields and hoped to sneak a second victory here to extend their lead. But an injury to leading man Chris Sellens saw Harriers men finish 19pts behind Jaffa, and with the Harries ladies not at full strength, and also recording a second spot, the overall team victory went to Ipswich with Harriers runner up. So its all level going into Gosfield for round three this coming weekend.
Colchester Harriers Laura Shewbridge ran a blistering race to finish well clear of Springfields Samantha Bilby in the ladies event to record her second victory in two days following on from the Castle Park run. Good support came from Rebecca Cooke 11, Rachel Dale 13, Gemma Browne 17, Andrea James 18 and Rachel Richardson-Wright 85th.
Angus Holford recovered well from his Metropolitan league race the previous day to lead the Harriers men home in 6th position, he was chased home by Andy Jobling 9th, Paul Rodgers 11, Anthony Barraclough 12, then came youngsters Oscar Dawson 15, Jake Young 19 and Danny Millward 25. Keith Marley 29 and Craig Mitchell 32, brought the team home.
Simon Wilson 41st had a great run and he was chased home by Wayne Cook 43, Dan Foster 44 and Jamie Nelson 45. The rest of the Harriers men to finish were Alex Sales 49, Peter West 56, Kevin Higgens 59, David Wright, 64, Michael Bates 67, Joseph Boden 67, Richard Millward 79, Chris Manby 89, James Waterson 105, Mick Bond 116, Pat Marsh 122, Martin Claydon 140.

53-12 Juniors
The junior 53-12 race saw Archie French first home in 7th spot with Thierry Ajaja close behind in 8th, Mollie Whiteford 25, Lilly Cairns 30, Madeline Claydon 31, Amber Cairns 34, Hannah Rodgers 40, Savannah Harrison 49, Isabella Minder 51, Mia Farrell 57, Amelia Dean 67, Masie Waterson 71 and Daisy Bullmore 87 all put in good performances.
Other results
At Colchester Castle Park run, Harriers had a big turn out. The men filled the first 4 places with Ramadam Osman 16:31 the winner, he was followed home by Max Caulfield 17:55, Anthony Barraclough 17:56 and Andy Raynor 18:21. Young Fergus Crouch was 7th in 18:41, with Keith Marley 9th 18:49, Richard Millward run a personal best in 19:39.
The ladies celebrated a 1,2,3, with Laura Shewbridge leading Hannah Watson 20:24 (PB) and Jasmine West 20:55 home.
At the Maldon Park run Craig Mitchell ran a classic race to finish runner up in 18:28, Rachel Rodgers ran 29:29. At The Cornard Park run Wayne Cook clocked a very quick 18:05 for 3rd spot. Jerry Walder was 8th in a personal best 19:08.
Angus Holford finished 50th in the metropolitan league fixture at Wormwood scrubs in what is probably the highest quality league in England.

Charlie Parmenter, junior, ran his first XC and came 73rd.

There were four more Harriers who finished the junior race at Ramsay, 13th Theo Gardiner (first under 11 boy) , 14th Milly Presland (second girl/first under 13 girl), 43rd Lily Waterson and 46th Grace Gardiner.

After two 53-12 junior XC races, the individual positions in their age category for Harriers who have completed in both races are as follows. With an athletes best four finishing positions in their age group counting towards the individual awards there is still time for much to change before the end of the season.
