Great results from Harriers
The Benfleet off road 15 is a tough event, taking in the Hadleigh Downs it is always a feast of mud, and this year was no different with the runners struggling on the saturated ground. The Colchester Harriers ladies swept to victory with great runs from Sarah Sellens 4th overall in 1:55:28, with Amanda Henry just behind in 5th spot clocking 1:55:53 and was the first Veteran lady. Mellissa Dowell ran strongly in 2:05:13 to bring the team home, other ladies to finish were Michaela Clarke 2:31:00, and Fay Smalls 2:48:33 .
The men are awaiting confirmation of team victory but the provisional results make them champions due to superb running by Chris Sellens 4th 1:32:32, Allen Smalls 8th 1:37:42, and Paul Rodgers 18th 1:42:41. Keith Marley ran well 1:50:19, with James Waterson finishing strongly in 1:54:25. Then came Richard Boden 1:57:26, and Richard Millward just missing the 2 hour marker in 2:00:38.
Colchester Park Run
The Castle park 5km Park run saw the third biggest field ever of 339, Harriers were well to the fore with youngsters Danny Millward 2nd 18:39, and Max Caulfield 3rd 18:42, David Wright 5th 19:02, John Fryer 9th 19:14, and Dan Foster 10th 19:28 all ran well. New Harriers Rachel Dale swept to victory for the ladies in 21:14. Dan Mark 11th 19:33 ran a personal best and Gary Raynor 20:26 was first over 60. Others to finish were Andy Rayner 20:03, Ian Haw 20:50, Ziggy Lambton 20:56, Simon Morgan 21:07, Dan Wilkinson 21:09, Richard Millward 23:34, Richard Boden 23:05, Hannah Rodgers 23:56, Paul Rodgers 23:56, and Rachel Richardson-Wright 29:22.
