Holford has great win at Great Notley
The Cross Country season finished with a flourish as Angus Holford surged to victory for Colchester Harriers at the final fixture held at Great Notley Country park, the green vests finished runners up in the league behind Ipswich Jaffa for the 4th consecutive year.
Holford won by a long stretch from Bentleys Dave Greene and then received great back up from the rest of the team with only 14 pts separating Harriers and Jaffa men on the day. The Harriers ladies were again well under strength and just one more lady scorer would have made a completely different final result on the day, but with the ladies finishing 6th the overall position on the day was 4th.
Harriers finishers were 1 Angus Holford, 15 Paul Rodgers, 16 Anthony Barraclough, 17 Oscar Dawson, 18 Jake Young, 22 John Fryer, 27 Jon Nears, 31 Paul Spowage, 40 Andrew Dagge, 50 Pete West, 60 Wayne Cook, 67 David Wright, 72 Russell Goodridge, 88 Dan Marks, 113 Mick Bond, 135 Pat Marsh. The ladies were 8 Rachel Dale, 14 Rachel Taylor, 33 Jo Marks, 66 Rachel Rodgers, 72 Becky Bjotter.
Final League Positions 1. Ipswich Jaffa 35, 2 Colchester Harriers 26, 3. Witham 21, 4. Great Bentley 15, 5. Springfield 15, 6. Harwich 14.

Junior race
The junior race saw great results from the Harriers with Danny Millward 6th leading the team home, to finish 3rd overall in the League this season. It was a 1,2,3, for the green vests in the under 13 girls season awards thanks to Milly Presland and Grace Gardiner. In the under 11 boys Theo Gardiner took the overall award, with Molly Whiteford 2nd in the under 15 girls and Danny Millward runner up in the under 15 boys.
Finish positions on the day were, Danny Millward 6, Sam Shorter 8, Fergus Crouch 9, Thiery Ajala 10, Joe Boden 13, Archie French 16, Millie Presland 19, Theo Gardiner 21, Alexandra Cobbald-Bell 34, Charlie Parmenter 42, Grace Gardiner 52, Isabella Minder 59, Savanna Harrison 74.
Essex League
The final Essex XC league tables saw Colchester Harriers men finish 4th, the men Veterans 2nd, the Colchester Harriers Ladies 5th and the lady veterans 8th. Colin Ridley took the individual gold medal in the over 50 category.
Other results
Allen Smalls and Sean Ketteridge won the Norfolk 50 mile off road race in 8 hours 51 minutes they ran a steady pace and were well clear by the finish.
David Wright ran his 150th park run in mid wales at Dolgellau and was 5th in 19:23. Richard Flutter was 12th at the Brandon Forest event, with Debbie Cattermole 1st lady in 22:07. Wayne Cook was 3rd at Great Cornard in 17:58. And at Colchester Castle Laura Shewbridge was the ladies winner in 19:40, Fergus Crouch was 5th overall 18:16, with Andy Raynor 8th 18:53, just pipping Keith Marley 9TH also in 18:53.
