Colchester Park Run
Rowe returns in style
Colchester Harriers had a fabulous result at the latest Castle 5km with the green vests filling all the first 7 places with 5 of the Colchester runners aged between 15:19. Jordan Rowe returned from University to show he is still a top runner clocking a winning 16:56 on what must be one of the toughest Park runs in the country . Chasing Rowe home was young Oscar Dawson running a personal best 17:15, with another young un Danny Millward 3rd in a best ever time of 17:17. Adam Sawyer another returning University man was 4th in yet another personal best of 17:30, with Max Caulfield 17:37 ( PB ) 5TH. Two senior men were then 6th and 7th with Mark Harrod 17:39 just getting the better of Anthony Barraclough 17:46. Michael Bates clocked 19:20 his Castle 5km best.
Cudmore Grove
Nearly 200 runners were on the line for the brand new Mersea Park run at Cudmore Grove, on a fast Cross Country course Harriers set 10 age group records to get the race off to a flyer, Angus Holford was the overall winner in a superb 16:24 a standard that will be hard to beat. Paul Rodgers gets better every race and was 3rd in 17:35, followed by Allen Smalls 4th 18:00, Andy Raynor 6th 18:55 and Pete West 7th 18:56. David Wright was just behind them in 8th spot 19:00, then came Laura Shewbridge in a fine 10th spot and first lady in 19:13, taking 9 seconds out of Russsell Goodridge who was 11th in 19:22. Other age category records for Harriers came from Fran Norris 23:18 Veteran ladies over 55, Hannah Rodgers 23:59 girls 13:15, John Wheatley24:52 men over 70 and Liz Cudmore 27:23 veteran ladies over 65.
In the Umhlanga park run in South Africa Dan Wilkinson was 10th in 21:23.
