Maldon Summer Promenade 5km series
Fastest six men from Harriers as Sellens and Stradling set records
The first race of the summer Promenade Handicap 5km series held at Maldon Park saw Colchester Harriers monopolise the race with the six fastest men and course records for Chris Sellens and Sarah Stradling. Sellens only a couple of weeks after becoming Essex Marathon Champion tore around the course in 16-18 to beat his own and the races old record set last year. Sellens victory was mirrored by Sarah Stradling who while using the race for a warm up for the London 10km was first lady in 18-01 and 8th fastest overall on the night. After Sellens Harriers filled the next 5 places with 2 Carwyn Jones 16-46 (Pb), 3. Jon Nears 16.54 ( Pb), 4 Colin Ridley 17-05, 5 Ged McMillan 17-15, and 6 Mark
Harrod ( Pb). Laura Shewbridge is edging towards a sub 19 finishing runner up in 19-08.
