Lizzie Leads The Way at Twilight 10K

Colchester Harriers young hopeful Lizzie Wellsted continued her fine recent run of form with another brilliant performance at the Ipswich Twilight 10K, the 17 year old defying high winds and heavy rain to clock 34:20 and win the women’s race by a margin of over a minute.  Lizzie’s time, the fastest time in her age group in the UK this year by over two minutes, was within 30 seconds of the British record and comes just 2 weeks after she narrowly missed out on the 5 mile record at Great Bentley.

Steve Mason was next home for the club, clocking 37:10 to finish just outside the top 20, and was followed by Alex Borwick with a Personal Best 37:42 and Sean Eales who ran a promising 39:43 on his 10K debut.  Other Colchester finishers were Michael Young (41:04), Katie Gibson (44:49, 1st F50), Phil Wood (44:59) and Joseph Noack (58:20).

Meanwhile up the road in Norwich Adrian Mussett was again rolling back the years, running 32:17 in the Run Norwich 10K to finish fifth overall and first M50 out of a field of almost 7,000 runners.
