Gold for Harriers team

Adrian Mussett continues to master the road races although 44 he finished runner up in the tough course at Brentwood in the Essex 10km road Championship, Mussett’s second position earned him Essex individual silver, Veteran gold and Team gold. Joining Mussett in the winning team were Andy Jobling 11th and Ged McMillan 12, for Jobling it was his first county medal as he continues to improve. Pete West just missed out finishing 4th veteran over 50, while Ian Haw ran a personal best 37:15, Rebbeca Cooke was not pleased with her time, but extended her lead at the top of the grand Prix series table with a solid run.

Other races

Angus Holford ran a superb 15:28 in the elite 5km held in London finishing 12th amongst some incredibly fast runners, while Andy Jobling ran his first ever 10km on track in a very good time of 36:03. Richard Flutter was also flying clocking in the Walthamswow track 5km coming home 8th in 18:29 in a field of 30. Flutter then finished 7th in the Nayland off road 10km, Keith Marley was 4th and Simon Wilson 9th.
Paul Spowage had a fine first half iron man competition completing the course in Norfolk in 5 hours 5 mins and was 6th in the over 50 category, Spowage was 123rd overall out of 1700 competitors.

Colchester Harriers helped stage the latest Mersea park run, the first two home were the pace men Paul Rodgers and Keith Marley. Andy Raynor had a good win in the Valentine park, Ilford 5km clocking 18:36. Laura Shewbridge won the Bognor Regis park run in 19:10, At Colchester Castle Danny Millward 18:06, Fergus Crouch 18:10 and John Nears 19:32, were the first 3 home. Richard Boden was 8th and Richard Millward 10th.
