British Athletics Indoor Championships
Having gained the qualification standard at the Essex & Eastern Indoor Championships, British Athletics invited Rebecca Jeggo to compete at their Indoor Championships held at the Birmingham Arena on Sunday 18th February, which was broadcast on the BBC.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd, Rebecca coped admirably and lined up in heat four against opponents who had all represented their respective countries. With a good start she held her nerve, finishing fourth in a personal best time of 24.83s, placing her joint twelfth overall. With the officials unable to separate Rebecca & the other athlete to 1/1000 second, they had the unusual circumstance of flipping a coin to see who would take the final semi-final place.
Rebecca thoroughly enjoyed the event at this higher level of competition and hopefully the experience will hold her in good stead for the future.
Rebecca will now head to Sheffield this weekend, along with training partner Charlie Dobson & their coach Steve Garnham, to compete in the English Indoor Age Group Championships, both athletes competing in the 200m.
