Ramadam surges through windy Wix to victory
Colchester Harriers Ramadam Osman swept to victory at the Wix 5 in a time of 26:27 in very windy conditions. Danny Millward ran a superb time of 28:45 to finish an impressive 8th in the field of 306. Richard Boden was 2nd veteran over 50 in 31:34 (24th) with team mates David Wright 31:39 (25th) and Dan Foster 31:47(26th) chasing Boden home. Joseph Boden ran a fast 32:29, with Mark Baker 34:04, Andrea James 35:17, Dave Gayer 36:17 and Sara Wallace 37:30.
Simon Smith found it hot and hilly in the Palma half in Spain and passed the line in 1:28:30.
Martyn Clarke ran the Causeway Coast marathon in Northern Ireland, this race includes a wade in the sea to get round the coastal cliffs and is extremely tough, Clarke finished a superb 18th in 4:12.
Yet again the Castle Park run saw over 300 runners, front runners front runners for the Harriers were Paul Rodgers 2nd 17:49, Max Caulfield 3rd 17:55, Cameron Humphries 4th 18:01, Andy Raynor 5th 18:24 and Alex Sales 6th (pb) 18:27. Keith Marley 9th led the next set of Harriers in with Danny Millward 11th Ian How 12th, Dave Wright 16th and Jamie Nelson 17th. It was a Personal Best for Jerry Walder 19:48 and Kevin Higgens 19:57, Harriers had the first two ladies home in Elspeth Bisson 20:30 and Elizabeth Woods 20:56.
At other Park run events Rachel Richardson Wright finished in 29:24 at the Cambridge race which had 463 finishers, Debbie Cattermole was 2nd lady at the new Clacton event in 22:39, Drew Olley won Gt Cornard in 18:10 with Wayne Cook runner up 18:21.
