Watford Half Marathon
Watford win for Sarah
Colchester Harriers Sarah Stradling is now over 40 but still produces incredible results. In a field of 1631 hardy runners Stradling tore to victory at the top class Watford Half marathon, which has 6 large hill climbs on the course. Stradling kept up her normal pace and won in 1:21:10 to take the Senior and Veteran prizes.
Great Bentley Half
Laura Shewbridge ran a great personal best at the cold Great Bentley half Marathon clocking 1:26:44 for 5th lady overall. Steph Horner was 2nd over 45 in a best ever 1:27:43. Mark Harrod was first home for the green vests in 1:17:44 for 17th spot, with Paul Rodgers running off a big mileage training week 25th in 1:20:07, with team mate Paul Preston just behind in 1:20:40. Then came Clive Thomas 2nd over 50 1:23:24, Simon Wilson 1:24:39, Keith Marley (Pb) 1:24:18, Wayne Cooke (Pb) 1:25:54, Richard Boden 1:27:26, Richard Millward 1:30:15, Dan Marks 1:31:15, David Wright 1:31:40, Kevin Higgens ( Pb ) 1:33:37, Dan Wilkinson (Pb) 1:36:48, James Waterson 1:34:00 and Angela Isherwood 1:44:25.
Braintree Boggle trail marathon
Allen Smalls won the Braintree Boggle off road trail marathon in 3:16, Sean Ketteridge was 4th 2 minutes behind Smalls, with Malcolm Statham running 4:21 in his 191st marathon. Mellissa Dowell and Jason Bilton ran well in 4:30.
Park Run
Allen Smalls won his 2nd race off the weekend at the Mersea Park run, with Mark Harrod second and David Wright 3rd. Angus Holford swept to victory in a field of 368 at Colchester Castle park run in 16:52, Fergus Crouch ran a personal best 17:58 for 3rd spot. Well to the fore were Jon Nears 6th 18:20, Anthony Barraclough 7th 18:37, Joseph Boden 10th 18:57 and returning from Injury Pete West 11th 19:09. Elodi King returned to racing to win the ladies event in 21:32.
