On Saturday 9 February 2019, sisters Megan and Amelie Taylor represented Essex at the Regional Sportshall Athletics final held at Sports Park, UEA, Norwich.

Competing as an U15, Megan helped team Essex to a great silver medal competing in the Vertical Jump, Speed Bounce, two lap and four by two lap relay.  Her best placing was fifth in the vertical jump (52cm) and overall finished in a creditable 17^th place.

Younger sister Amelie, competing as an U11 gained valuable points for her team to also gain a team Silver in a close match which saw just ten points between the top two teams.  Amelie won her Vertical Jump competition (52cm), as well as the two-lap relay with her partner and anchored Essex home in the overall relay.  She also competed High Stepper and the Over Under relay.

Both sisters had attended each round of the Sportshall competition since October last year and were delighted to be chosen to represent their county.  “I loved being part of the team,” Amelie said. “The atmosphere was amazing,” commented Megan.

Details of the 2019 / 2020 Sportshall Athletic Scheme organised by Essex Athletic Association will be announced later in the year.  This is a great opportunity for younger athletes to gain valuable track and field skills in a warm, safe environment.
