Great run by Stradling at Birmingham half marathon

Colchester Harriers Sarah Stradling made the podium at the Birmingham Half, now one of the biggest Half marathons in Britain. Stradling clocked an impressive 1:22:10 in very warm conditions to finish only 30 seconds behind the winner, straddling moved through the field from 5th position late on to come close to overall victory.

Chester Marathon

Ian Haw ran a personal best 3:13:36 at the Chester marathon finding it hard over the last 10km. Malcolm Statham was 4th in the flower of Suffolk marathon in 4:28 his 202nd marathon.

Wix 5

A small team of Colchester Harriers travelled to Wix for a windy and warm 5 mile road race well staged by Harwich Road Runners.
Colin Ridley 28:12 won the over 50 veterans although suffering from a cold and Paul Rodgers was on the comeback trail taking the over 40 prize in 29:25, Rodgers and Ridley were joined by Paul Preston 30:43 to win the mens team while Debbie Cattermole 36:46 took the over 45 category and Rachel Rodgers 47:10 won her first award for the bets club performance on the day. Others to run well were Malcolm Statham 36:10,Louise Yates 47:10, David Wright 33:06, Ady frost 33:11, Sharon Frost 39:19 and new runner Johnny Zeeuw 35:06. Richard Flutter has a heavy cold and took it easy in 36:47.

Park run

Colchester Castle park run saw good runs by the green vests with Keith Marley really coming into form with a personal best 18.24 to finish 3rd with Mark Harrod 4th 18:41, Fergus Crouch 6th 18:54, Andy Raynor 7th 19:01, Richard Boden 9th 19:34 and David Wright 10th 19:39. Andrea James was runner up in the ladies in 21:18. The Mersea Park run saw Harriers supply the first 6 home, with Craig Michell winning his first race in 19:21,Pete West returned from injury to come home 2nd in 19:30, with Simon Smith 19:40, Jamie Nelson 19:51, Russell Goodridge 19:59 and Chris Panton 20:52.
