Juniors in action
Six Harriers took part in the under 13/15 indoor open meeting at Lee Valley on Saturday.
In the 60m sprint races the four girls recorded personal best performances. Under 13 Hollie Martin-Whymark was the quickest clocking 8.81s and 8.80s to improve her PB, set in the Essex indoor championships last month, by 0.11s. Under 15 Raine Tylor’s fastest run was timed at 9.29s with under 13 Jessica Scotchmer stopping the clock at 9.35s in her first run.
In the 200m races under 15 Olivia Gillon improved her PB by 0.03s clocking 29.66s while Hollie impoved her PB by nearly a quarter of a second recording 30.47s in her race.
Jessica, Hollie and Raine competed in their long jump competitions. Jessica was in good form improving her indoor PB by 33cm, her best effort measured at 3.81m. Hollie’s best jump was 3.37m with Raine jumping 3.34m.
Under 13 Harry Gillon made his debut in for the Harriers running 2m 56.33s in the boys 800m race.
Meanwhile at Bury St Edmunds our three youngest hammer throwers took part in the second competition of the Thetford Winter Throws series. Wyatt Larkins (U13B) showed his consistency with a best throw on the day of 27.32m. Josephine Larkins (U17W) threw 43.97m and Olivia Simon (U15G) 39.33m; both season’s best performances.
After the final NESS cross country league fixture at Halstead last month the age group tables show a number of Harriers featuring in the top 3 positions:
