Harriers at Loughborough International

Three Colchester Harriers competed at the Loughborough International Athletics meeting on Sunday 19 May 2019. The event included national teams from England, Scotland & Wales, as well as teams from GB Juniors, British Universities and a team from the host club.

Fresh from her BUCS’ success Philippa Davenall was the first to compete, representing the British Universities team in the hammer.  She continued her season’s good form launching the hammer to her third best ever distance of 58.04m to take a credible 7th place in the match.

Charlie Dobson continued his return to form by representing Loughborough University in the 4 x 100m relay. He ran a splendid third leg helping Loughborough to a fine win, separated by a photo-finish against a stacked England relay squad, whilst recording a new Loughborough record time of 40.21s placing them joint second on the overall UK rankings.

Running later in the day, Rebecca Jeggo was competing in the first of the 200m guest races. Her recent good form had her seeded in the ‘A’ race, running into a head wind and after missing a week of training through injury herself Rebecca was a little off the pace yet still finished in a respectable time of 24.66s. Clocking a new legal PB.

It was fantastic to see the three Harriers competing at this prestigious event.
