Defibrillator Update
Members may have noticed that last summer the Army took away the defibrillator from the track. This was because across their estate the Army / Sodexo were concerned that some defibs were faulty and may not work if needed.
Well the good news is that we have not one new defib, but two!
Firstly the Army have replaced the defib that was located on the wall near the men’s changing rooms (see photo) with a brand new unit! It is there and ready to use, by any one using the track or hockey pitches etc, so if the worst were to happen it is close to hand.
Also, the club recently applied to a local charity for funding for a defib on its own and were successful, so Colchester Harriers are now the proud owners of our own portable defib which we can take to events, races etc. More to follow on this story as we’re going to have a formal handover presentation for the new equipment.
Finally, last summer the club organised a first aid course for coaches and volunteers, which included defib training, and we hope to be putting on another course this summer to get some more people trained in first aid.
