Age Groups
Events are held for boys and girls in the following age groups
- U11 (school years 5 and 6)
- U13 (school years 7 and 8)
- U15 (schools years 9 and 10)
Entry
Entry is around £8 and gives entry for up to 3 different events at each fixture.
Entries for Essex fixtures can be made in advance through the Essex Network website or on the day. Entries for Suffolk fixtures are taken on the day
Where and When
There are up to 4 fixtures in each region between October and December, with possible selection for regional and national finals.
The times and days of each fixture vary. Each fixture lasts around 2 hours.
Essex fixtures now tend to be held in Chelmsford (at the Salerno way sports centre), while Suffolk fixtures tend to be held in Ipswich.
Format
Athletes compete as individuals in a choice of events. All events are run in standard school sports halls and include running, jumping and throwing events designed to prepare children for the more formal summer track and field competitions.
At the end of the year the best performing athletes across the fixtures are selected to represent the Essex and Suffolk teams at the regional finals. Teams are selected for U11, U13, U15, boys and girls.
