Cracking wins for Mussett and Smalls
Adrian Musset continues to fight back the years winning the high class Grand East Anglia 10km in Kings Lyn at a canter in a solid time of 33:50, Musset also took the veterans prize and is still one of the top veteran and senior runners in the country. Anita Mussett clocked a good 49:49.
Allen Smalls won the Heritage half Marathon at Thorpeness a tough off road event along Sizewell Beach and Minsmere Forest in 1:22, this was Smalls 9th victory here which includes a few full marathon victories as well.
Mark Harrod was a good runner up in the Heritage 10km and Becky Bjotter and Rachel Richardson-Wright also ran well, David Wright finished the half Marathon. Malcolm Statham completed his 197th marathon at the same event in 3:28 for 5th place, his fastest ever Heritage marathon time.
The Witham 5 saw a great team win by Harriers with Danny Millward a superb 4th in 28:22 to win the junior prize, with Mark Harrod 5th 1st veteran 40 in 28:31 and Colin Ridley 1st over 50 6th in 28:33. Second claim Harrier James Wright was the overall winner in 27:50. Pete West was second over 50 clocking 30:20, Richard Boden ran his second personal best of the weekend finishing 17th in 31:16, while Richard Flutter coming back from injury was pleased with 31:50.
At the latest round of park runs a massive turnout of 428 at the Colchester Castle saw a double win fir Harriers Anthony Barraclough 17:27 and Laura Shewbridge 19:01 (Pb) were the victore, Fergus Crouch was 5th in 18:09, Andy Raynor 7th 18:29, Ian haw 8th 18:34 and Richard Boden 9th 18:58 (Pb), David Wright was 13TH 19:26, with Lewis Bysouth-Smith having a personal best 19:32 for 15th. Elspeth Bisson was 2nd lady 20:24 and Elizabeth Woods 4th 22:15.
Chris Sellens won Great Cornard in 17:05, with Drew Olley 3rd 18:43. Tristan Steed won Great Notley in 17:23. And final victory of the weekend was Milly Presland at the Thetford Forest park run clocking 20:46.
