The men needed to win to reach the Milton Keynes final while the ladies had already qualified. The men had a very strong team which ensured victory with some superb performances. The Welsh 50 mile ultra was held in Dolgellau mid Wales and also included a three person relay for the first time. The storm warnings meant that the course had to be moved off the Cader Idris and Rhinog mountain ranges to a lower but very tough hilly course which tested the green vests to the limit. In a close fought contest between the three Harriers ultra stars Andy Jobling just came out on top getting away at 45 miles to finish  in second spot with Nate Filer third and Allen Smalls fourth (first veteran over 50).
