Holford wins by a distance

Angus Holford ran the latest 53:12 XC league fixture at Ramsey from the front to finish over a minute clear of the field. Holford led his team mates to within 20 pts of 1st placed Ipswich Jaffa and the green vests were happy with the result and a good turnout of over 50 Seniors and Juniors. Backing Holford up was Chris Sellens 11th who is returning to his best, then young Ermeas Aferwerki who at 16 ran his first 5 mile cross country superbly in 12th spot. Completing the 8 scorers were Dominic King 12th, the ever reliable Colin Ridley 16th, Allen Smalls 24th, Tom Cresswell 25th and Paul Rodgers 33rd. The ladies were struck down on the morning with illnesses and injuries but the 4 remaining ladies battled well to ensure Harriers finished a team that came 5th of 6. Andrea James is running much better and came home 5th, with Ffion Harris 14th, Jenny Richardson 28th and a brave run by Rachel Rodgers 78th. Other Harriers men to finish were Jon nears 37, John Fryer 38, Keith Marley 42, Alex Sales 48, Joseph Boden 50, Pete West 57, Richard Flutter 58, Gavin Scanlon 60, Kevin Higgens 63, Simon Smith 66, Russell Goodridge 72, Adam Garrish 79, David Hilson 84, Richard Millward 97, Dan Wilkinson111, Dave Gayer115, Martyn Claydon 130, Ian Rattray 138 and Pat Marsh 149.

The junior Harriers team finished 3rd with Millly Presland 1st over 15 girl and 11th overall in the mixed junior race. Finishers were Danny Millward 5, George Mann 10, Milly Presland 13, Harrison Leek 22, Madeline Claydon 30, Grace Rallweed 35, Charlie Parmenter 36, Ella Patterson 37, Emily Henderson 46, Molly Whiteford 48, Savanna Harrison 56, Isabella Minder 59, Anber Fisher 68, Jes Longstaff 73, Daisy Bulmore 83, Michael Woods 88, Hannah Rodgers 90, Jenny Woods 97, Charlie Palmer 98.

National XC Relays

Jordan Rowe ran a superb first leg at the National Cross Country Relays at Mansfield finishing 11th and on the day 14th fastest runner against some of the best runners in the country, Sadly due to circumstances Harriers were unable to finish the team, but nethertheless Rowes run was exceptional.

Other Results

Louise Yates was first veteran at the round Mersea Duathlon and Rachel Richardson-Wright also competed well.

Chris Panton won the Elmstead Trail half marathon only a week after running the OMM mountain event.

Paul Rodgers won the mersea park run, with Richard Flutter runner up at the Maldon Event in 18:49, At Colchester Castle it was a 1,2, for the Harriers thanks to laura Shewbridge and Jasmine West, the men were well to the fore with Jon Nears 18:29 runner up and Andy Raynor 18:52 5th. Then came Ian Haw 10, Richard Boden 11, Lewis Bysouth-Smith 16, Nicholas Kricka17 and Robert Ferguson 20. Sarah Sellens was 2nd at the Great Cornard event . Drew Olley ran 18:28 to win the Clare Castle Park run.
