Chris Sellens has great run at Snowdonia trail
Chris Sellens and Allen Smalls took on the severe climbs of the Snowdonia Trail Marathon held from Llanberis at the weekend. Smalls who was runner up in the Welsh Trail marathon at Coed Brennan the month previous, found this even tougher clocking 4:12:16 for 6th place overall and first veteran over 45. For once Smalls was beaten by a Harrier, with team mate Chris Sellens running like a lion to clip Smalls wings finishing in 5th spot in 4:09:26, only the winner, Victoria Park Harriers Sam Humpfreys bust 4 hours in 3:58:01. Fay smalls ran superbly in the half marathon to clock 3.48.
Essex Track 10k
The Essex track 10,000m Championship was held at Braintree and Chris Sellens who was 5th and Allen Smalls took the bronze team medals, good runs came from Paul Rodgers, Colin Ridley,and Mark Harrod.
Maldon Prom 5k series
The Maldon promenade evening 5km Handicap saw 19 Harriers on the start line, with Mark Harrod 3rd fastest on the night in a personal best 17:13, it was also a best ever run by Cameron Humpfries 4th in 17:25 with Danny Millward 5th 17:26. It was a 1,2,3, for the ladies with Becky Cooke 19:25 (Pb), Laura Shewbridge 19:35 recovering from illness and Heidi Steele 20:36.
Others to finish were 7 Doug McGillan 18:08, 8 Max Caulfield 18:44, 10 Keith Marley 18:52, 11 Craig Mitchell 19:03, 12 James Waterson 19:09, 13 Tom Vasperugh 19:17,14 David Wright 19:24, 23 Dan mark 19:46, 25 Craig Harley 19:54, 26 Dan Wilkinson 20:07, 66 Becky Bjotter 26:11 and 84 Rachel Rodgers 29:31.
335 runners were at Colchester Castle for the Saturday Park run, Angus Holford led a 1,2,3 for the Green vests winning in a great time of 16:47 with mark Harrod runner up 17:27 and Addam Sawyer 3rd 17:44. In was also 1,2,3, for the ladies thanks to Rachel Dale 20:37 (PB), Heidi Steele 20:45 and Amanda Henry 20:53. Other good results came from Alexandra Williamson on his Park run debut 19:54 and Sandra Fox 23:37.
