Maldon 5k Series

Millward victorious at Maldon Park

The Maldon Summer Promenade Evening Handicap 5km series got under way with a good crowd of 124 runners, 31 were Colchester Harriers. Young Danny Millward led the Colchester Harriers charge with superb personal best time of 17:11 to beat team mate Mark Harrod 17:12 ( Pb) by one second in a sprint finish and take the fastest time on the night. Millward is a great talent and still only 14 years old! 8 Harriers runners finished in the top ten, behind Millward and Harrod, they were Jon Nears 5th 17:21, Paul Rodgers 6th 17:42, Paul Preston 7th 17:59, Doug McGill 8th 18:06 and Andy Lovelock 10th 18:17. Other Harriers were Chris Manby 18:38, James Waterson 18:47, Richard Boden 18:52, Dan Foster 18:53, David Wright 18:55, Wayne Cook 18:55, Ziggy Lampton 19:02, Craig Mitchell 19:06, Keith Marley 19:07, Joseph Boden 19:09, Dan Mark 19:41, Richard Millward 19:27, Simon Morgan 20:48, Rebecca Cooke (Pb) 19:34, Ady Frost 19:59, Dan Wilkinson 20:18 (Pb), Jerry Walder 20:26 (Pb), Craig Harley 19:40, Heidi Steele 21:18, Jo Martin 22:14, Fran Norris 22:51, Becky Bjotter 26:19 (Pb)Rachel Rodgers 27:36 ( Pb), Rachel Richardson-Wright 29:30.

Solamon Mountain Trail

Allen Smalls followed his two consecutive marathon wins at Halsted and the Howgills, with a fine 6th place at Keswick in the Solamon Mountain Trail race held over 25km of steep terrain with 2200 ft of ascent. Smalls clocked 2:04 minutes, Fay Smalls also ran well finishing in 4 hours.
Rachel-Richardson Wright finished 5th veteran in her age group at the Eton Dorney Sprint marathon.

Gellsenkirchen marathon

Richard Heath travelled to Gellsenkirchen in North Germany to complete his first marathon. He ran very well for 22 miles but suffered on a tough course in the final 4 miles, but still clocked and impressive 2:53 to be first Briton home in the 8000 field.

Park Run

A record 419 runners completed the Castle Park run 5km, with Paul Rodgers 3rd overall in 18:03, while other Harriers in the top 10 were Max Caulfield 18:49, Tim Ballard 18:50, Craig Mitchell 18:53 and Danny Millward 19:03. Briony Downes 20:46 and Helen Bloomfield 21:05 were the first two ladies home. Milly Presland 22:26, and Katrina Vicentijevic 24:28 ran Personal bests. Other Harriers to compete were Richard Boden 19:09, Ben Halls 19:53, Richard Miller 20:17, Dan Wilkinson 21:01, Andrew Dagge 22:32, Jasmine West 22:53, Sandra Fox 23:21, Natasha Rice 24:20, Brian Smith 24:21, and Rachel Abbott 26:48.

Great Cornard park Run produced fast times again with Laura Shewbridge first lady in 8th overall place in a personal best 18:46, Cathy Beard clocked 26:26.

The Wycombe Park Run saw Martyn Clarke 10th of 340 runners in 19:34.
