Howgill Mountain Marathon

Smalls wins again

Only a week after sweeping to victory in the Halstead Essex Marathon, Allen Smalls won the Howgill Mountain Marathon, in the Yorkshire borders of the Lake District, in style. Smalls took the lead at 21 miles and finally came home with 7 minutes to spare on his nearest rival. This was an extremely tough event with large climbs, which as normal Smalls took in his stride. Fay Smalls completed the half Marathon in 3 hours 23 minutes.

Bury to Clare 18 mile multi Terrain race

Cooke is surprise package

Rebecca Cooke surprised everyone winning her first long distance event in style at the Bury to Clare 18 mile multi terrain race. Cooke, the day after finishing 6th in the Essex 3000m Track Championships, finished first lady and 5th overall in the field of 200 in a superb time of 2:25. Cooke had never run over 11 miles before so the result was amazing amongst many established long distance ladies. Just ahead of Cooke were team mates David Wright 3rd 2:24:10 and Simon Smith 4th in 2:24:30.

Great Baddow 10 mile Road Race

Mark Harrod ran a personal best of 58:15 at the Baddow 10, Chris Manby ran well for 64:50, and Wayne Cook clocked 66:05 knocking 4 minutes off his best ever time.

Scarborough Half marathon

Martyn Clarke finished 150th out of 1600 runners in the North Lincolnshire half marathon Championships held at Scunthorpe in 1:29:09.

Steele back to form

Heidi Steele is on the comeback trail winning the Maldon Park run in 22:40. At Great Cornard Drew Olley was 3rd in 19:02, and Debbie Cattermole swept to victory in 23:28. Martyn Clarke travelled to Bicester where he was 5th in 19:15.

Colchester Castle saw a record 413 finishers ! Paul Rodgers swept aside his disappointment of the Halstead Marathon to finish a fine runner up in 18:01. Cameron Humpfrioes returned from his long spell abroad and clocked a superb 18:50 for 5th place, also in the top 10 were Keith Marley 19:17 8th, and Joseph Boden 19:17 9th.
