Yeovil Marathon

Rodgers gets his qualifying time

Colchester Harriers Paul Rodgers achieved his qualifying time for the 2017 London Marathon with a good finishing time of 3:07 at the Yeovil marathon. Rodgers was one of the many casualties in the blazing heat of the Halstead marathon so is pleased to have put the record straight at the Yeovil event.

Park Runs

Angus Holford was another Halstead non finisher but the powerful runner swept to victory at The latest Colchester Park run and also the Maldon Promenade 5km. Holford clocked 16:40 at the Colchester race which was held at the Rugby Club rather then Castle park due to events in the grounds at the weekend. The Rugby club course was 130 metres long so times were down, but harriers still produced the first 4 home with Holford followed through the line by Jon Nears 17:53, Doug McGilliany 17:57 (Pb) and David Wright 19:10. Laura Shewbridge was a superb 5th overall even though she missed the start in 19:31, Dan Mark 19:48, Ben Halls 19:52 and Richard Millward 19:53 were all in the top 10. Southend Half Marathon

The Southend half marathon has a large field and Harriers were well to the fore and were unlucky to be pipped by 3pts by Southend AC for the team title. It was a reasonable breeze along the Seafront where most of the 13 mile race occurred keeping the times down, but the Harriers team of Daz Farrugia 13th 1:19:08, Mark Harrod 14th 1:19:14 and Colin Ridley 15th 1:19:20, ran extremely well, Chris Manby 1:25:37 and David Wright 1:29:49, used the race as a warm up for the Welsh Trail marathon this coming weekend, while Keith Marley although struggling with a minor injury clocked 1:28:44, Becky Bjotter continues to improve running a personal best 2:05.
