Lambton the latest star
The weekend started at a cold Castle park where 290 runners swept past the superb Colchester Castle setting on the normal 5km course.
Harriers juniors are winning these races on a regular basis and another up and coming 13 year old, Ziggy Lambton, led the field home in a new personal best of 18:50. In 3rd place and at the other end of the age spectrum was over 50 runner Pete West in 18:52. Joseph Boden 19:07 5th, Craig Mitchell 19:10 6th, and David Wright 19:21 11th were well to the fore, while Laura Shewbridge grafted out another victory in 19:31, with Helen Bloomfield runner up in 20:28, Sandra Fox 23:37, Hannah Rodgers 26:56, Kate Sandercok 27:12, and Rachel Richardson-Wright 30:15 all ran well.
In Scotland Martyn Clarke was 5th in the Perth 5k park run clocking a good 18:57, and followed this up with a 6th position in 1:27:35 at the Meadows half marathon held over 9 laps.
Malcolm Statham returned to marathon running after a 3 month injury lay off finishing the Round Cambridge Boundary race in 4 hours 12 minutes, this was his 169th Marathon.
