Shewbridge wins on Veteran debut

The festive Holiday season got off to a bang with Laura Shewbridge winning Colchester Castle park run on her debut as a veteran lady coming home in 19:42 in windy conditions, Richard Heath 17:41 was 2nd man, with Paul Rodgers 4th 18:00 and Anthony Barraclough 5th 18:17.

David Wright also found windy conditions at the seaside at Aberystwyth clocking 19:20 for 8th place. Nicola Martell-Smith was the winner at Harwich in 23:28, with husband Robbie Smith 2nd man in 19:31.

Wayne Cook was runner up at the new year race at Cornard in 18:07 with Russell Goodridge 3rd 18:47.

Mersea Island saw Allen Smalls beat his personal best here clocking 17:51 ( 2nd ), with Debbie Cattermole first lady 22:28. Steve Garnham ran his first Park run in 26:42 with Michelle Garnham 26:47.

The double header Colchester Castle New year races, saw the first won by Angus Holford 16:52, with Cameron Humphries 3rd 18:00, Jon Nears 4th 18:10 and Fergus Crouch 5th 18:32. Jasmine West was first lady in 21:41. This was then followed by the New Years day race with Danny Millward 2nd in 17:43, followed by Cameron Humphries 3rd 17:45, Allen Smalls 5th 18:03, Ged McMillan 7th 18:43, Fergus Crouch 8th 18:48, Craig Mitchell 9th 18:57 and Keith Marley 10th 19:06. Fiona Wattam was 2nd lady 23:29.

David Wright was runner up at Mulbarton Common in Norfolk clocking 18:59, 4 seconds behind the winner. Chris Manby was 4th.

Malcolm Statham ran two marathons in two days in the Barrow Challenge clock in 4:05 and 4:35 though struggling with a hamstring injury, they bring Statham’s total Marathons to 190.
