Mitchell continues cracking form

Colchester Harriers Ed Mitchell is in cracking form, a week after winning the Essex 10 mile Championship, Mitchell ran a superb 5 mile Essex Championship at Wix to become County Champion and take the gold medal in in 26m 13s.  Danny Millward is only a youngster but ran very well in the elite field to clock 28m 19s for 15th place, Colin Ridley was also County Champion taking the over 50 medal in 28m 56s.

Aiko Hennington had a double celebration winning County Gold as first veteran over 45 and also the senior silver for her second place overall in a smart time of 30m 12s. Debbie Cattermole although at the higher far end of the age group ran a fine 35m 57s to take the veteran 45-54 bronze medal. Other Harrier finishers were Paul Rodgers 28m 59s, Paul Preston 30m 12s, Gavin Scanlon 31m 07s, Richard Flutter 31m 56s, Andrea James 32m 41s, Simon Ford 33m 26s, Dan Wilkinson 34m 15s, Simon Morgan 34m 44s, Annette Oakman 36m 42s and Keiron Callaghan 38m 59s.

Chelmsford Marathon

Sunday saw a great run by the consistent ultra runner Nathan Filer clocking 2h 44m 05s to gain a Championship entry for the London Marathon.  Tom Cresswell beat the three hour barrier which is never easy in 2h 59m, Jerry Walder ran a massive personal best, clocking 3h 22m to take 10 minutes off his previous best.  Jay Waite ran a good race in 3h 25m, clocking another personal best.  Alex Sales was on for a 2h 50m time when a knee injury forced him out at 21 miles.

Brugge Marathon

The saw Brugge Marathon saw Graeme Langford clock an impressive 3h 31m, while Richard Millward who had suffered from a cold leading up to the event settled for 3h 45m.

Malcolm Statham ran 1h 21m at the Thurlow 10 miles.

Leigh on Sea 10k

Bill Haining’s good form continues with an Eastern Masters silver medal at the Leigh on Sea 10km.

Holt 10k

Wayne Cook was 10th in a field of 500 at the Holt 10km in 38m 02s.

Ibiza Duathlon

In the European Duathlon Championships held in Ibiza, Spain, Paul Spowage (pictured) was in excellent form finishing 4th overall in the veteran 50 category and the first British runner home.

Park run roundup

The Sizewell beach park run saw David Wright take his 5th over 60 park run record in 6 weeks taking 70 seconds off the record in 21m 03s. Rachel Richardson-Wright ran her fastest park run of the year.

Jason Gunn won the Colchester Castle park run in 17m 25s, Ian Haw was 4th 18m15s and Andy Raynor 7th in 19m 25s.  Jon Nears and Angus Holford were just behind him in 19m 42s.  Rebecca Cooke was a worthy ladies winner in 20m 17s with Ella Neale runner up in 21m 11s, with new signing, Jordi Moat 22m 11s making up the top 3 for the Harriers.

Ziggy Lampton won the Cudmore Grove, Mersea Island park run in 18m 59s.

Paul Dobson continued his come back from injury with runner up spot at the Maldon park run in 18m 48s.

Chris Sellens was 4th at the Great Cornard park run in 19m 49s.
