Double team gold at Brentwood

Colchester Harriers monopolised the Essex 10km over a good Blackmore course in wet conditions. The mens and ladies teams took the team gold medals which is always for the club the main priority.

The ladies were led home by Laura Shewbridge 40.08 who took the individual bronze medal for a superb 3rd place, Shewbridge had a fine 2nd half and came through the field to lead the team to golds, Joanna Hudson 41-34 was next in 8th place although running on tired legs due to ironman training, and Andrea James won her first County medal in 9th spot 42-13 a well deserved reward for the up and coming athlete. Other fine runs came from Anita Mussett 47-56 and Fay Smalls 57-52.

Adrian Musset who at 41 has been selected for the Essex team in the inter counties track championships next week showed that he is not slowing finishing 2nd overall 31-49 and first veteran to show the way for team members Chris Sellens 5th 33-23 and Carwyn Jones 8th 33-52 to seal the gold medals. Allen Smalls 16th 34-56 took the bronze over 40 medal, and Arthur Whiston 42-04 the silver over 60 medal. Superb personal bests came from Paul Rodgers 37th 37-01 , Ian Haw 102nd 41-15,Simon Taylor 39-20, and Dan Wilkinson 44-44. While Pete West 37-07 and David Wright 38-36 were well up in the over 50 placings. Simon Smith 41-15 ran well as did Jon Nears 28th 36-19.
